Chris... I also tried a Vintage White Pearl and Black Pearloid guard on it. Nothing quite looked as good as the Abalone. JOSH

I longed for this bass as soon as I saw it was up. Gave me some wicked gas.

Sweet score, and a p to boot! Wish I had this bass and more time to get reacquainted with fretless playing. Enjoy! I will hope the trans-continental shipping gods smile on you.

I knew the bride when she used to rock and roll.

Indeed.

That was the first bass I ever ordered new. As much as I thought that bass was me, nothing fits me better than the Big Al. That bass was about the most perfect bongo ever. 8.1lbs, perfect action, sound to die for.

Enjoy!

Here are some pics from when I first got it:

Got it!

WOW THIS ONE SOUNDS SOOO SWEEET...

I went to customs, payed my duty and took the case with me to...
my mechanic, because he had to change my tires for the Winter will start this weekend. There, I took a big knife, opened the box, pulled out the case and....
:eek:Saw the edge of the case was damaged. Like always, if you write 'fragile' on a package, they must have been stacking a fridge or something like this on top of it. Darn gangsters of international airways transportation:mad:...

opened the case, holding my breath and......
:eek:neck there and straight, no big damages or scratches on the bass at first sight..
..:rolleyes:and what a first sight this bass is in all it's golden goodness, just great...
taking it out(still at the garage), letting it sing to the sound of the pressure driven tools, fiddling a bit on the knobs just so see...

:(my shaft is bent! The Volumepoti stood there against the attack of the killer fridge, bending sideways under the pressure. Darn gangster mofos of int. airfreight:mad:, curse you<!.
Hurry home(when I should have been at my desk), plug it in, everything is fine:eek: but still, my shaft is bent:(. Headed back to my office, swearing silently to about everything 'cause of the twisted shaft. Getting home, reading to the kids and then...

Then, i found this:http://www.ernieball.com/forums/music-man-basses/11183-bongo-design-gotcha-minor.html
, took a deep breath, bent it back, and (k)now:)life is good!!!

Thank you Josh, Thank you adouglas, thank you EB and all here for the Bongo and being here.

And remember: If your shaft is bent, bend it back!:D:D

Cellkirk74,
Can't wait to hear your impressions on the new Bongo. I love the look of that bass! You are fortunate! I imagine the Bongo Fretless must be one mean, growly, machine. Good playing.

I am getting used to the fretless. By now I use a lot more humbucker with only a bit of piezzo. But mainly because the piezzo is not as loud with the EQ all centered.

So I have a little question. May it be a good idea to lower the hummie a bit and maybe raise the very low action to get a more even ratio of hummie and piezzo?

It already sounds great, but blending over to more piezzo always requiers to adjust the eq or gain too.

Waht did you do?

Chris... try blending maybe 10-15% towards the piezo side then adjust your eq to taste (i liked to dial in the lows a lot). This gave me the nice smooth low end i liked with the crisp of the piezo when playing on higher strings. JOSH
