Hello there co-forumites! im searching for a head (valves), worthing around 500 euros, that according to your opinion would provide me a descent tone!:)

I was thinking of a peavey valve king 212 ? Ever heard of it? It sounded cool on my ears;).

This amp will stay in the house for home use or for a very small (and not well equipped:p ) studio ( situated in my house again :p ) .

I usually play progressive rock , rock and metal ( not very wild stuff ) and maybe some blues also sometimes .

Thanks in advance!!!

A friend of mine has the Peavey valveking and to be honest we are both disappointed with it!

As a member of the EU check out the site at Thomann.

The Bugerra amps are awesome and is highly recommended by John Denner a pro musician on this forum.

Another great amp is the Blackheart amp - awesome sound!

Though I don't like Behringer in general, the Bugera amps had excellent reviews (always keep in mind: "for the money you spend") in the recent past, but I have not had the chance to play one yet.

What I actually did own some time was the Peavey Valveking VK100 head and it had decent clean tones to it, as well as good distortion sounds if you took the time to tweak it a little. It was good bang for the buck...
I don't own this head anymore (was a "second amp" and spare...), but I recently got myself a Peavey Windsor 100 head in exchange for an older nylon string classic. Now that's a nice rock / hard-rock amp for the small budgets, but it's only single channel, so you might not want one for prog stuff, unless you play modded strat style guitars with lower output PUs und work the volume pot alot...

If you can, try out a Bugera and maybe give the VK100 PV a try too...

Anyway - tone is what everybody has to define for themselves.
I found mine in a Diezel Einstein 100 head, but that's just WAY OFF the 500 Euros mark...

You could also just get a good clean sounding amp and a real tube distortion pedal instead of a full blown tube amp. I have a Damage Control Solid Metal distortion that I play into a Fender Blues Jr. combo and I'm pretty happy with it. I recently bought a Boss RE-20 Space Echo to sweeten my leads and that's all I need! Everything else (Wah, Whammy) is just for fun, I can live without that.

I know that behringer have had some bad press in the dim and distant past but I can only state what I have found.
I bought 2 powered speaker cabs for my sons technics decks and they have been faultless. In fact for the money they were a steal.
My Pod xt through them sound just great!!
A friend has also made up a monster PA rig all from behringer gear and once again - no problems.
I think Thomann offer a 3 year guarantee too??
Give them a try on the Bugera stuff - I don't think you will be disappointed.
