I'm sorry I had to do this Norrin, and I don't want to sound like I'm gloating... but I must say that I'm 1,000,000% glad I snagged your 20th! It plays like a dream, and sounds very different compared to my other 2, and I think in some ways, even better! It's light (lighter than either of my other ones), and I think the hardtail adds so much to the tone. I never knew what I was missing on my trem models till I got this... This one is a slayer...

AND, here's what the top looks like in my pics:

And honestly, I'm surprised how muchI like it with the natty headstock... You never showed a pic of this one with the full shot, but I got to say, it was breath taking...

And this is BEFORE any photoshop touch ups!!!

THANK YOU NORRIN!!!!!!!!:D;)

Very nice my fren!!!!! Very very nice figuring - an upgraded top aint it?

Why dont you take a family shot some day & show us all the 20th in the house?:D

Btw, nutty head stock with a rw board is always nice, like those on the Y2D. - very cool looking!

Dude, nice snag!!! Norrin, sorry about you having to sell it man.

I was really tempted to grab this, but lack of funds held me back.

Congrats again, great guitar. Glenn |B)

erm... here's the shocker.. This ISN'T an upgradede top.. This is what's so great about EBMMs... Even their standard tops suck!!!!:D

I'll take a family pic when the other one comes back from the doctor's... Now that you've tried this one, doesn't it make you want to hunt for one yourself?:D

Its definitely a snag for a non-upgraded but SUCKs top!

I have many chances of scoring a 20th when they were 1st launched. But some how the long upper horn and 3 switch mode are not my thing, which made me go for the Y2D and now, the Silo Spec, for more option in tone selection..

Anyway, enjoy the hardtail, & try the OTHER hardtail out - you will like it. ;)

COOL Now how does the AL rate??

Honestly Rob, I wanted to give it a few more goes before I mentioned the AL. Mainly because I'm really underwhelmed by it... AND, I tried it BEFORE I tried this 20th... There's something about the AL. I don't think it's this particular piece. It's really light, well made, and comfortable. But...

I can't put my finger on it... It's not churning my juices like the 20th... Perhaps it's the Ash body. Perhaps it's the pickups... I dunno... There's just something about it that's not gelling with me... It's definately not my favourite ball. In fact, it's my least favourite. I even prefer a Luke over this one, and I HATE active pickups...

I was actually more excited about getting the AL than the 20th, because I have 2 20ths, and I didn't expect surprises. But I've never tried an AL before. I was expecting a lot since most AL owners here rave on about it... Even to the extent of calling it a strat killer. I'm sorry to all the AL owners, but I find it FAR from being a strat killer. Or at least, it can't even touch the one last only strat I still have. My reaction when I tried the AL was something like: "...eh?..."

But my reaction to the 20th when I tried it was something like: "WTF?!?!?!?! THIS is what I call a 20th!!!"

Like I said, maybe I haven't spent much time with it... But with this particular 20th, I don't think I'll have much time for it to begin with... I'll definately give it a few more days or weeks, to see if it grows on me...

Then again, maybe a Silo Spec is definately much more my thing...:D

Give it some time. I dont find the AL to be a strat killer either, or a tele killer, it has its own vibe. Silo Special is more a strat killer.

Actually, I gave it some thought, and you know what I think it MIGHT be? I think it might be the silent circuit... I remember playing my old strats loaded with Kinmans, and they all had this rather sterile single coil tone. It's as if it doesn't quack or pop as much as you'd expect it to, mainly because of the noiseless dummy coil system. Like it's ALMOST there, but not quite...:(

I feel something similar though not quite with the AL... I'll have to disable it to see...

Don't worry Norrin... I've already given it a good cleaning and change of strings when I got it home... Whaddya play? 08s? 09s? They're puny!:D

:D:D:D:D

Those are Hybrids on there right now! :)

Oh - and try the AL without the battery in and see if that changes your perception of it.
