A few weeks ago i found a band looking for a bassist on Craigslist. after a random lag they finally told me when n where to show up for a tryout (some place in sf on the 28th).

i dunno why im nervous. ive gone thru this many times and i've always been offered the gig (tho ive always turned it down too LoL). i think im nervous cuz i actually dig this band ... in the past ive tried out for non-demo-having bands and went in with no thoughts, but this time ive heard songs and am pretty excited.

so we'll see how it goes. now ive gotta woodshed and get back on my game.

so since i have the audition next week i figured it was time to startplaying bass again LoL so today i finally practiced for the first time in way toooooooo long.

anywho ... before actual practice with a metranome etc i thought id scrape the rust of my fingers and noodle while watching tv ... i recorded this 6 minute noodling just to see how far off my game ive gotten ...

And he was only scrapping the rust of his fingers ! Hey, if they don't give you the place with what your able to play, they are nuts. I can't imagine you wouldn't get the "job". The slap parts aside, you are playing with your fingers, right ? Astonischingly precise and fast ; I can only play that way with a pic. Good luck !

na dude ... besides the slap junk the clip's all pick playing except maybe like 5 notes. I'm a decent finger player ... usually when killing time at home im too lazy to go to the desk to grab a pick, so ive put in lots of finger playing practice ... i just dont like it.

i can maybe play 3/4 or 2/3 that fast with fingers; I have no clue how to guage it so here's an example: I can play Iron Maiden's Hallowed be Thy Name with my fingers and thats about as fast as they'll go

... with a pick i can play even faster than on those clips but im too rusty now ... the picking hand can do it but my fretting hand gets lost. couple more days and they should be in sync tho
