just one quick question. Mine seems heavier. I weighed it and it is around 7.7-8 pounds, hardly what the website says. Could i have a dud?? seems a bit heavy for an axis.

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No way buyers remorse here dude. It rocks!

What amazes me so much as the first time i played one is how thick the neck is but how damn comfy it is.

Like a glove.

I know it aint a dude. Just was heavier than i expected.
I actually like guitars to be a bit on the medium side. Light ones sound anemic!

after i eat ( gotta eat) i am gonna take the neck off and polish it up. It looks like whoever had it didnt play it much at all. The frets have very very little play in them but the board is a bit dirty and so are the frets. the frets are a slight bit corroded, but almost perfect.

Time for the steel wool!

After i get done with it, its gonna look purdy as hell! Not like it aint now!

Tone,

Congratulations on the MM!!

Yeah, Jeff is right - "never a DUD"!!

Remember, no two guitars EVER weigh the same!! As you know the weight is "always" approximate, i.e., established for the amount of wood (and type of wood) needed to build that product according to the spec's.

Also, taken into consideration are elements such as moisture and hardware (e.g., Floyd Rose trem vs stop tail), etc. . . .

MM wood is ALWAYS the best guitar "wood" out there!!

Congratulations on finally getting an Axis Nick! I don't think it's odd to have one that seems a bit on the heavier side - my purple one is noticeably heavier than the other three. Just adds a bit of difference among them I guess....

Thanks guys!

Thanks John! Finally got one.
I will have to post more tomorrow and pics cause i am too tired from fixing it up and playing it with whatever energy i had left in me! Im a bit obsessive when it comes to these things and have to have my guitars set up perfect. and i mean perfect! lol

Here they are boys!

Check out that top eh?!

Flickr: Photos from kamesas_nikos

It plays great but i am a picky Mofo. So, i want to get rid of the shim that is on it cause it makes the guitar a bit too stiff. It also has like three shims on the locking nut which leaves a gap at between the nut and the fretboard believe it or not.

Any ideas??

Will taking off the nut raise the action too much? Also taking out the shims from the nut wont probably compensate will it??

Cheers!!
