hey travis ... how does teh 500w here compare to the 700w that the GK1001 puts out?

you guys are making me want one of these

Well Arin, I cant be exact. I havent spent a great deal of time with a 1001RB since getting my Berg HT322. I could do an A/B sometime soon though.

I will say that the Marks 500 watts @ 4 ohms sounds to my ears like a LOUD 500 watts. I dont think youd wind up hurting for volume.

And to echo what BP said. Tonight while practicing, I set the amp flat again, and just toyed with the two "V" knobs, and hot dangit, you really can get by without touching the EQ.

I want one too... do you think I can really justify it as someone who doesn't gig? :D

You guys are giving me major GAS for Markbass gear!

This is true. All of my settings are at noon except the VLE---which I keep at zero---and the VPF at 1 o'clock...

I love the scooped sound. Not much of a fan of the vintage sound, especially when popping. But it's nice to know that I can accentuate that characteristic of my bass when I want.:)

I love my Little Mark I, it does everything I need it to at the required volume, but I still think I'm going to eventually upgrade to the lighter Mark II with extra knob.

I've been using a LMII for about 6 months now and they're great heads. At first I ran it through 2 Aggie 112s and that combination really sang but when I got chance to buy an Epifani UL310, I sold the Aggies.

TBH - I've been thinking of changing the LMII for something with a bit more power because with the cab rated at 750 watts @ 5.3 ohms, I'm probably only putting 400-ish watts through it and I've read that this won't be getting the best out of the cab.

Anyway, here's a pic of mine..

If you considere a Markbass head, try the TA serie. When I bought the head I use, I compared the Little Mark too the TA, and find those sounding even better, maybe because of the tube preamp.

I use the eq to fit the sound considering the room and conditions we're playing in. The VLE cuts some highs and gives a more old school sound ; the VPF cuts the midds for a good slap tone. With the Bongos eq you can get sounds you weren't even thinking about !

That doesn't mean other brands are s***t, but if you're looking for a versatile and always good sounding amp, Markbass are the best I tried (but not having as much experience as Travis has).

I bought the 2x10 combo over the weekend and it kicks. The VLF filters are the only thing I messed with, everything else was pretty much flat. the bongo sounded even better with a little vintage tone dialed in.

My combo sounds great and its light, only 44lbs but if I had my choice the TA 800
with the 610 would be the final pick.

Welcome to my world.

Really, this amp has crushed my desire to get more amps, well except some of the higher end Marks.

Arin, go to GC and play one. I bet youll leave the store with it.

Just when I think I have a plan to cure my GAS, you guys come and screw it all up. And the BP goes on a Markbass trip. Oh, decisions, decisions. It looks really cool, Travis!

Random question: Can you attach the LMII to a rack mount?
