i see youv'e only 6 post ......so you get a little lead way.......but ....let's get to it.........
You're not going to believe this, but this morning I dropped the guitar off at FedEx to go back to Ernie Ball. The volume pot is bad. Ever have a pot that sticks in a certain point in it's rotation? Well, if a complete rotation was a clock face, this pot is sticky for about 35 minutes!
I couldn't believe this passed Final Inspection at the factory. A have a friend who's a bass player, and he's torn down and rebuilt lots of instruments. He showed me that if you lift the knob slightly it rotates freely, but when you let it back down it binds. He said at the bottom of the pot there's a teflon washer, and in this case the washer must be defective.
I called Dan at the factory, and he couldn't believe what I described. I said "Doesn't every knob and switch get tested before the guitar leaves the factory?" He said there are numerous inspections they go through. He probably thinks I'm smoking crack or something, but when the guitar gets to the factory he'll be just a dumbfounded as me.
One good thing is that I live in Long Beach, which is next day to the factory even with FedEx ground. Dan promised he'd turn it around as soon as he could. Since I had to pay the FedEx cost to ship it up there, he also said he'd toss a few packages of strings in the case to cover the shipping charges.
So....when I get the axe back next week, the pics will be promptly posted.
