Heh...not that original....

I am a big fan of the orange acrylic swirl.

I had one in a 5SCH config that went to England last year.

Here it is on Carbon Blue:

And, here's a outdoor shot of when it was on my white fretless:

I think this pickguard really needs to contrast with the color of the bass to be most effective. So, I don't particularly like it on the DG.

I kinda like the orange swirl too.

I would like to see it in person though.

Pictures really don't do the orange acrylic justice. For a more accurate picture, take any Hubble photo of Jupiter you've seen and simply imagine it orange. :D

Amazingly enough, we had some nice sun here today in Arizona. So, I got a couple of pictures of the orange swirl with natural light. Here ya go -

Not enough contrast on the Desert Gold for my taste...I dig it on the white though.

Yeah, I agree with this statement. In the sunlight, I don't like it.

I bet it would look pretty ridiculously sweet on Kermit, though.

So $50+ later and it's a failed experiment.

I was on the fence about this, so I left it up to my wife to decide. She went with white pearloid, and I agree with her that it is the best option of these 2.

Ray has dibs if I decide to get rid of the guard still not sure if I will, I may just buy a black Bongo H to go with the guard. :)

Thanks for all of your opinions!

Okay, in the sunlight, it's better - but I think I know why I'm not crazy about it.

No black or defining line around the edge. I'm thinking if it had a black border, it would kill.

Just a thought.

+1 Orange Swirl on Orange actually looks really nice. However, because it is a like-on-like color scheme, it sort of loses the punch. You need to add a border or accent line around the edge. Sort of like the pinstripe you get with a three-layer pickguard. A black edge might be really nice in this case. It would help the Orange Swirl stand out instead of bleeding into the Bongo.

If you are really daring, take the Orange off, and paint just the bevel black. I would bet that would set off the orange swirl.

I just adore orange so I'll vote for the orange swirl over a white one. BUT I think something darker would offer more of a contrast. Like black ice or tort.
