Anyways just blowing some steam here, and maybe we can exchange some common sense and knowledge. I bought a SR5 for 930 bucks. single H model. natural. good, not mint. Paid the guy. Ebay user mrfud. FORUM USERS BE WARNED. ebay user mrfud. he was banned of ebay but maybe he goes by the same name elsewhere.

Waited. Gave it a week. Nothing. Got a shipping number after I insisted a week later. number was bogus and tried contacting the guy and he says he's on a business tripI . Filed a claim in paypal. Two days later I get my money back... the catch i only get 200 bucks back saying thats what they cover.

This guy had 24 feedback and 100% and been a user since 04. sold 5 things including a 1300 dollar strat week before i purchased which cleared.

I feel conned by the guy and paypal because the only kind of ppl paypal will back u up 100% is a megastore with 20,000 feedback. Yeah like their gonna con u.

Anyways paypal said they do their best efforts to collect the difference that is due from the seller... has anyone had any issues like this before..

what can i expect?

Ouch, sorry to hear this happened to ya. It's an eye opener too, for those of us who buy on ebay, because given the guy's transactions/feedback rating, I'd have bought from him. Sure, 24's not a real high number, but at 100% pos. feedback, that would've seemed alright to me, and has before. It's a numbers game though, for sure.

I have no idea what you can realistically expect from ebay/paypal in this situation. Maybe others have some experience-based insight. Best of luck.

CKY,

Sorry to hear about you ordeal, and I know it hurts a lot more than can be described (I HATE CONS & THIEVES!!!).

But to all people who read this: The problem is NOT the con man, it is PAYPAL and EBAY!!!! Yes, if they set things up right, this would not happen - plain and simple!! It can be done, but until the public complains they won't change.

I really hope you're still able to get your MM bass somehow someway!!

I feel worse because I have two anniversary rays and was getting this for a friend who could only buy second hand... this just makes it worse... the ebay user apparently had the item listed as located in the USA, I cant remember the city though.

My advice to you is, bitch at Pay Pal...get a CSR on the phone explain the situation then when you get the same text book answer you need to demand to speak with a manager...this is where you start pleasant then turn on him like a pitbull...you bitch and complain enough you will get your money back, if not go to his boss, they all seem to have a boss and one of them can get you your cash back.

Did you put it on a credit card? If so you need to contct the issuing bank right away and get the charges reversed...they make it difficult with the hopes you will backdown or just will down right give up...good luck.

I beg to differ--the problem is the con man, plain and simple. CKY agreed to both Paypal's and eBay's terms of service before using their system. Both Paypal and eBay work exactly as they say they will. The guy sold a bass and didn't deliver. I fail to see how this is the fault of eBay even if they are a favorite kicking post for forums everywhere.

I've had sometiming similar happen to me, filled a claim with Paypal, and they said there is nothing they can do (they always seem to have a reason to not pay). I then called up my credit card company knowing that all purchases on my card are insured, after a brief 4 week investigation, I got my 250$ credited in my account. I then recieved an E-mail from Paypal saying I should have dealt with them about the issue (which I tried but they refused to help!!)

I guess my Credit card Company either took the loss or forced Paypal to rectify the problem. So putting pressure on Paypal from different fronts could help. Don't let paypal get away with it, fight it to till the end, 730$ is a lot of money to loose!

PayPal present themselves as a safe payment system....as you see it's not true and you really need to read their terms and conditions to find out how little protection they offer.
Paying your PayPal via credit card is a grey area...some credit card companies claim that they fulfil their part of the bargain by paying PayPal and that no contract exists with the seller.
One thing I do know is that PP hate you bitching to the credit card company.....so that's what you should do!!
Hope you get somewhere.....my commiserations

This is probably THE main reason that if I want to purchase a bass, I'll go local, or on a forum where I trust the members. Always good, fair deals to be found!

i suppose you're taking a risk like this every time you make a transaction on ebay, some users are just there to con people, however there are good guys out there with low feedback too! i only have about 28 but i'd never dream of doing something like that and i have 100% positive.

Bad luck mate :( you live and learn eh?

I know this isn't really the format for this type of discussion, so I will end with this, in hopes that it may bring change for buying MM products on Ebay.

Problem: Ebay and Paypal INVITE this type of corruption, because it is the Buyer who loses and not them. So change is slow in forthcoming

Remedy - plain and simple:

1. Ebay MUST require a "deposit" to be held on file with ALL sellers who want to use the Ebay format. This in itself is a "winnowing" of underhanded sellers.

2. Buyer's money MUST be held at a neutral location until the seller sends and the buyer receives the product.

I got ripped off on evilbay once to the tune of $160. Worse...I paid with a money order. I filed a complaint with e-bay and was able to recoup my loss less a $25 "service fee." That said....I bleeb that their limit of coverage is only $200. It may have changed or I could be wrong though. Try the 'Bay's cust service/complaint resolution department. You may be able to find help. F- the a--holes of the world!! Hope you get your money back!!

That really sucks dude!

Regarding TNT's comments:
Technically, by using PayPal you are entering into a contract with them where you agree to their terms of use.

An outline of their buyer protection can be found at:
https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=p/gen/ua/policy_buyer_complaint-outside#pbp-policy

Scroll to section: 13.3 PayPal Buyer Protection

I don't mean to take away from the suckiness of the situation at all. But stating PayPal/Ebay aren't doing their job is an invalid claim. The TOU/TOS you agree to is what you must/can hold them to. Their "job" is outlined in that document. "Ignorance" of a contract is not a defensible stance.

But anywho. Contact your credit card company to dispute the charges. Hopefully they can help.

Good luck

Sorry but that sucks man, ebay and paypal are evil, I am done with ebay closed my account to many issues both on the buyer and seller side and paypal well between ripping you off on their fees does not offer much protection, I had some ahole file a claim on a non ebmmmm item did not even get an email stating so, only found out when i went to transfer the money from a different sale, lost that money and they ruled in favor of the buyer even though I provided evidence that he was wrong, so in the future just buy new or deal on the forum, i hope you get everything back, sorry for the rant.

Paypal doesn't bump up their payment protection until a seller hits a feedback score of 50. I usually don't buy big ticket items (like EBMM's) unless the seller's feedback is that high, and they have the Paypal $2000 guarantee on the auction page.

Sorry about your situation, and I hope it gets worked out.
