A buddy of mine told me that the Genz Benz is a better amp for slap and pop. Any validity to that as far as anyone knows? I am not a slapper (at least not very good) and primarily I use the fingers. Rarely I use a pick on some songs. I am trying to stay as far away from the $1000 as possible. I had that as a budget, my wife wants me to spend $500, but I know thats impossible. So... I am trying to stay in that range. I will have to go with used gear, which I am ok with. The Markbass stuff does not come up used very often. Hmm....

There is no valid reason why the Genz would be better than the Markbass for slap and pop.

Just sold my Avatar B410 and B212. IMO they're good cabs...not great, but great cabs for the money. I just got a Bergantino AE410...great cab IMO.

If you were going to use just one cab, the 2x12 or the 4x10?

Probably the 410...It's a bit smoother/deeper sounding than the 212. The 212 cuts through more. If you go to the Avatar site Avatar Speakers and click on "bass cabs", there's a link toward the top of the page to a "Bass Guitar" magazine review of both cabs that is pretty accurate, IMO.

I've got a good little setup for you, plenty of power and sound for small to med venues.
Mesa m-pulse 300
Epifani T-210. NYC series, it's way better than any small Avatar cab.
PM for details if interested.

No better than any other quality amp.

Has anyone ever played on a Kustom 310C? I used to have a kustom with the same head with a 4x10. Sounded pretty good.

I had an Avatar B212, which was a very nice cab and a great value. However, I missed the girth of a fifteen, so I traded it for an Orange OBC115. This cab is stellar!

To me asking what bass to play or cab and amp is like asking a forum who to marry.

If you can't hear it for yourself then make a gut feeling guess.

imho
