Yes, the Luke is a good guitar. All the MM's are good guitars, tell him to choose the one that has the options he likes best and he can't go wrong.

Unless he gets one in purple, in that case he's on his own.

Just kidding!

I don't know, there are lots of differences, and it would depend on what he likes.

They have different body woods, different trems, different hardtails, way different pickups.

Not to mention RADICALLY DIFFERENT NECKS!!

The neck on the Luke is quite narrow, with a small, sharp V contour... It's not quite like anything else I've ever played...

Oops, I was thinking of the Morse.

The Luke is more similar to the silhouette.

Does he like active pickups?

I'm a Luke owner, and you will have to pry it from my cold dead hands to get me to give it up! For a player with smaller hands like myself, the neck is nirvana. My buddy has hands that are quite larger than mine, and he loves the Luke too. (He plays an Ibanez JS-100 most of the time.) I'm not crazy about the EMG-85 in the bridge, not enough power for my tastes, but the singles are great for clean stuff. (One of these days I'm going to drop an EMG-81 in the bridge and see if that helps things out.)

All in all it's a fantastic guitar, but the neck is quite radical, so your friend might want to try one before he buys. Except for my old '78 Ibanez Musician, I've never come across a guitar neck like the Luke's.

I can get you some pics of it along side of my Kramer Baretta for comparison. The only problem is that I would have to email them to you, i don't have access to any webspace. I'm not sure if you will be able to see much of a difference between the two. Let me know if you still want the pics.
