Rent? Nuts! you should own 'em :D

Anyway, I'm working on the presumption that we aren't talking "concert" movies here, but actual dramatic films that have music as a central theme or plot device... some of my faves are (in no particular order):

Oh Brother, Where Art Thou
Spinal Tap
A Mighty Wind
The Commitments
Hard Day's Night & HELP!
Eddie and the Cruisers
Purple Rain
That Thing You Do
Streets of Fire
America Pop
Phantom of the Paradise
Rocky Horror Picture Show
Josee and the Pussycats (I think my kids have watched this a thousand times!)

Can you get Crossroads on DVD now? I thought it was still unavailable...

...and Steve's WAY cooler than ol' Ralphy Munchio...

the red violin has some of the most beautiful music i have ever heard! i have always loved the sound of a violin, its so expressive and its tone is amazing. Especially the tone of the famous "Cannon" violin, nicknamed that because of its HUGE sound/tone. if i had started playing in school, i would be a better violinist than i am guitarist by now haha. But being on welfare growing up, i couldnt afford to get one, let alone rent one. Oh well... guitars can be crunchy and i like that a little better hahaha.

God bless,

Tony

3. The Kids Are Alright

I 2nd the nominations of both Spinal Tap ("It's a fine line between clever and stupid, innit??")as well as A Mighty Wind.

Good, good stuff.

JimiD,

I don't know if Crossroads is in DVD. I have it on VHS. I did make my own DVD of it on computer, but I haven't seen one at a store.

.....We all know Ralph can play Mozart right ?!?!?....;)

I Am Trying To Break Your Heart

Seconded.

Whenever I'm feeling down about writing tunes, I watch that movie.

Almost Famous is a close second. When I'm big and famous someday (yeah, right...), i want to stand on the top of some kids garage and shout "I'm a golden god!!!" before jumping in his pool!
