I don't like talkbass much, but the bongo does have a big following over there, even if it is a bit of a marmite (love it or hate it) bass

I thought it was in the TalkBass rules that you had to hate the Bongo?:D

Going there myself occasionally (Usually when I have a question that is forbidden on these forums:eek:) there are Talkbassers... talkbassists?... people on talk bass that make the rest look like horrible people, and some that do give good advice.

TalkBass is TalkBass. You have to take it with a grain of salt, just like anything else.

GC still has some Bongos? :D :p
It's nice to see that people are still being converted.

I remember playing a Bongo 4HH at my local guitar center and how much i loved playing it. I would try a few other basses, but always went back to the Bongo and had that large grin on my face...

I want a Bongo now...

I was not sure to put this on the "Why I Like My Bongo" or this thread.

But - TalkBass now has a Bongo club.
Well how about a BONGO CLUB? (Pics inside) - TalkBass Forums

I guess TalkBass is like any large situation. There is the good and bad. I find much or maybe most trite and sometimes silly. But if you are surgical enough in the use there are also good people and thus good resources. So, like traveling to a large city, do you notice the jerks pushing you about on the sidewalk to get in a crowded door - or the some of the really cool people and places to go?

Being from NYC, I would say this analogy is the best.

There is ALOT of great information there. And, like any great city, there is a whole lot of 'stoopid' going on too. If you put "IMHO", you can write and feel good about anything you post, even if it's complete crap.

More people go on for the pile on "this sucks". Also rampant is the 'it's my experience with this bass, therefore, across the board, everything about his bass and company sucks." It's an all ages show for that.

But you can skip this idiocy and the "you only really need an $86 bass" and go for the good information that lives there..

But I like it here the best.

What I like about the bongo is that most of the owners are actually gigging, rather than ranting on TB.

IMHO
