I was told the 2923 standard 9 set...at least that what it was back in February when I bought my Cutlass. I wish I had saved that email but I can't find it.

The kool-aid is strong with this one..... Brett posted a new video last night to sell off his strat.....:D

fwiw Mr. Burgs, in case you haven't already discovered this, the entire line up of MM guitars share certain features / characteristics. However, each model also offers something unique as well. Definitely something for everyone. As you'll notice on the forum here, most of us own at least a couple of different models while at the same time develop a preference for one.
I, for example, have realized through trial & effort that the Albert Lee model is the closest thing to the perfect guitar for me. Ergonomics (feel) being one of the most important factors. Even with that, I still have the option of playing my AL's with humbuckers, strat-style single coils, or the ultimate bad-assery of triple MM90's...
Life is pretty darn great in the EBMM family!! :p

...that's not even mentioning the outstanding customer service.....

Welcome Burgs! Great playing and tone. I'm also a Music Man and AxeFx guy. Lethal combo of awesome sauce.

That comment just adds insult to injury as I have been hunting an AL mm90 for quite a while. Without any result. Looks like all the guys who own a cool one would rather sell their kids. ..

About three weeks ago buddy of mine said he would sell me his Axe/FX II - I've been bugging the crap out of him ever since but he hasn't let go of it... :(

Hey! I found one for you!

Oh wait, yeah - I'm keeping that one. OTOH, I have 3 children, aged 13, 11, & 9. All are in near mint condition and are hard workers. ;)

Usually by the time they hit 13, their work ethic needs serious "reinforcement" to remain in effect - good to hear you're keeping up on them.

Tell them if they work hard and stay out of trouble, they can grow up to buy Music Man guitars! :)

I, too, am new to MusicMan guitars but I wouldn't be all that surprised to see the hybrids come factory on a floating trem strat-like guitar. I have used hybrid strings for years on my single-coil floating trem guitars for the balance. Heck, Carl Verheyen has a signature set of strings that are designed for floating trem strats that are basically the same as the Slinky Hybrids.

... Oh, and Burgs, you have cost me a great deal $$$ buying gear you've demoed over the years. 😉 Seriously, one of my goto's for YouTube demos for a good while. Glad to see you taking this plunge, too!

Thanks for the links. I had tracked both. But the DD doesn't have a trem and black is a bit "boring" to me... Arrangements can always be made as I have friends in the US who can always ship to me.

We use the M steel Hybrid set. #2922 Very Complimentary to this guitar. The Cutlass really responds to that extra bump in the low end that M steel strings provide.

Gotcha. Thanks for the info.

Can you tell me if the nut will accomodate 10-46 without needing a recut or will it need to be reslotted at tad?

Many thanks,

B

The nut is cut for the .26 .36 and .46 already so 10-46 is perfect. If you go to .11-48 and .10-52 Slinky strings I would address the nut to make it play flawless.

thx
