Apologies for the off topicness of this thread, but im sure someone on this forum knows the answer to my question :)

question is: Do any/many guitar amps (combos) purchased in the US work on 240v? like in australia?

I'll be heading back to the land down under in the next few months and would like to buy a nice amp for my JP6... but from my quick check at the local music store, I see the required voltage as 110 on pretty much all of the combos I looked at.

I'm thinking amps should be portable, considering bands fly around the world all the time (do they just rent amps locally??)

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks,
Chris.

Hey man

It' 240v in the uK - I just shipped a US Champ at 110 to my door - I got an Amp tech to swap it for a 240v PSU - cost me about £40 to get it done....

Anything is runn-able in your country !

The other option is you get portable adapters -like travel plugs -for about £30-40 - no idea what that is in AUSD -!!!!

Good luck.

Thanks for the tips :)

I did some digging and it seems that a lot of amps _can_ do the voltage, it just requires some fiddling inside..

now.. off to watch LTE at bb kings :)
