How so? If people wanted to buy them, they wouldn't be discontinuing the color.

Maybe so, but when something becomes unavailable (or rare) people seem to want it more IMHO. Of course I have never witnessed that around these parts:rolleyes:

StingRay 7181 says his heart is broken. There are some folks who like it, maybe just not many of us.

Trans Teal looks great to me (especially in well lighted atmosphere). And with the abalone PG, awesome:cool:

Meanwhile, back at the ranch.................Wait just a darn minute, not discontinued???? Stingray better get his Stingray ordered from somebody!! A broken heart mended so quickly:) :)

Now all he has to do is.......................................WAIT:eek:

Trans Teal hasn't been discontinued.....

call these guys and order one if you dont want to go back to that GC. http://dubaldomusic.com/ Pete and Nick run that sho; theyre forum members and great to deal with.

or, if you wanna go back to the GC you tell them that the folks at EBMM told said they were wrong and maybe they'll feel bad and shave some $ off the price.

see, this is why ive got Aziah on speed dial.

If you wait a few more weeks you'll be able to order the rare LE Blue Dawn SR4.
But then you'll have to wait more months for it to be cooked up fresh for ya.
Also, Trans. Teals are always popping up on eBay and craigs.
Shouldn't be hard to find one at all, new or used.

Also, I don't know about the Marietta store, but you could always try the one off North Druid Hills.
They usually are 'on the ball enough' to get my money

why is it guitar centers fault that we dont offer the color?

Poppa, you have misunderstood me, I didn't mean to make it seem like it was '' Guitar Centers '' fault because you guys do not offer the color.

I looked on ErnieBall.com to see what colors the StingRay came in, and it said Trans Teal was one of the colors, so I went to Guitar Center , cash in hand, to order my new bass, only to find out that Trans Teal was no longer a color option. It isnt their fault that you guys discontinued the color, I was just stating the fact that they lost a sale because the color was not available - It took me a whole month to decide on what color I wanted my new SR to be, and I finally decided Trans Teal, and now thats not available. When the guy told me that, I didnt have a '' Plan B for another color '' - so they lost a sale..... for the time being..... until I decide what other color I want.
So, Poppa, sorry about the way I worded my post, and made it seems like Guitar Center did something wrong , please forgive me, I wasnt upset with Guitar Center at all. Again, its not their fault, Its YOUR fault!!!!!!

----Now I gotta go change my sig ----------

guitar center aint the only joint in atlanta,
or go buy a bass player magazine and flip to the back portion for the online bass store adds.
Any of those stores can order one shipped directly to ya. BassCentral is where I GAS up.

Never assume that a salesperson in a big retail store knows more than you do. This isn't just GC, it's everywhere. These are not highly paid, highly motivated individuals as a rule.

I have yet to walk into a car dealership and find a salesperson who was actually knowledgable about the product. You can read two magazine articles and know more than most of these people do.

I've had salespeople tell me things that were blatantly false. Lying? Mistaken? Doesn't matter. I put little stock in what I'm told any more...there isn't much credibility left.

It's not GC's fault, or EBMM's. It's the fault of the salesperson who gave you false information.

That does not mean there aren't good, sharp, attentive, straight-shooting salespeople out there.

Do your own research and arrive armed with fact. If told something, verify it independently.

You could always PM forum member Enzo.

He works for GC, and I think he's up for customer service rep of the month.. trying to emulate CS rep "Big Poppa" at MusicMan. :D

Seriously, a PM to Enzo will probably ease your concerns about GC and clear up any confusion.

I sold cars for a time in between teaching gigs where the company actually spent hard $ to send me to the factory to learn about the product, then tested me regularly on my knowledge of the product as well as my ability to match the product to the customers needs, even if that meant they should buy a different car. They offered a 30 money back garantee against my abilities. I sold a lot of cars and had a lot of happy customers. I do blame GC and other retailers who do not train, maintain, motivate or educate their employees. I do agree with you though that it isn't just GC, I see it at restaurants, car dealerships, clothing stores, etc. That being said, I have had a long relationship with a local GC, but only because I talked to one sales guy because he knew his stuff and treated me well. He left, so now what do I do? I am fussy about stuff like this because I have seen it done well, it can be done. It is expensive, takes more effort, but it can be done. I don't think that we as the consumer are asking too much of the retailer when we are spending that kind of $. If you ask the clerk at McD's what kind of meat the burger is made of , you should expect to get a blank stare, but when you ask the salesperson at a music store what kind of wood your , $1500 bass is made of you should be able to expect a good answer, or at the very least a smile and "I don't know, but let me find out for you", instead of an uneducated guess or "uuhhh, pine?" :)

Just my 2cents.

screaminhugger,

Marty Albertson, the CEO of GC, mentioned that GC employee turnover for sales reps is 100% annually. Many people who take jobs there are musicians themselves and have other long-term plans beyond retail. Some just work there long enough to earn some cash to buy the gear they want at a discount.

The problem is the general work ethic these days more so than any one company's fault. Do you think that if someone working at GC really wanted to learn all about the products there, that they'd have no resources at their disposal? GC/Musician's Friend are responsible for a staggering portion of total retail music sales in the US every year. There's nothing that any manufacturer wouldn't do to help GC sell more of their product.

Never underestimate the beauty of buying from out of state. No sales tax is a beautiful thing on items of this price. There are lots of great dealers of MM basses.

Absolutely, 83% of my MM's are interstate deals. Had one weak moment at a local shop.
