Has anyone played this game? I finally broke down and got it for the PS2.

It's a frikkin' blast to play. While in this version, you only get to be a guitard, there will be the option of playing bass in Guitar Hero 2.

Why do I bring this up, you ask?

Check out the instrument the bass player is using in this pic. :D

Now, I don't if they actually licensed the use of the design, so wonderdog might have something to say about it.

While all of the tunes were re-recorded for the game, it's amazing how close they sound to the originals. It was interesting to see that the bass used for "Ace of Spades" was a Sterling when I watched some of the behind the scenes footage. it sounded just like Lemmy's Ric. A good example of how "one trick pony" single pickup basses really are, indeed...

A friend brought that over and we were playing it last night. I too noticed the "Stingray" (sweet)! Funny thing was, even though I was "playing" guitar, I couldn't help but pull the switch upwards, like I was playing bass. Had to be done. And can't wait for GH2 with the actual bass option (so I hear). I'm gonna have to buy this so my friend and I can "jam".

:D

And if the Ray image hasn't been obtained with permission, I hope these guys don't get into trouble for it. It's not like they're moving stock based on the use of the Stingray image itself, and I think it's pretty cool they could have chosen any bass image for the game, and went with the king of basses (whoo-hoo)!

That is a pretty cool toy, and the übertrix you can do when the meter is fully charged are a blast to watch!
A bit disappointing that it doesn't really play glike a guitar, so I don't think it'll make my kids next gen Luke-Morses;)

Well, a protected image is a protected image. I mean, they couldn't include Coke in the game without getting permission. The game has been wildly popular, so maybe Wonderdog should look into it. I mean, "getting in trouble" could also be read as "fulfilling the obligations of the law." :D

When they were recording the tunes, it looks like they had players with both a Sterling and a Lakland 55-94. At least they went with the original, and not the xerox (to quote someone here) in the game version.

I suppose it would depend on which aspects of the Stingray's image are copy protected. I'm sure you couldn't have a beverage with the word "Coke" on it in the game (with the standard Coca-cola font), but you could probably get away with having an unlabelled black fizzy drink. I suppose big business is big business, it's not like they're making any money based purely on the Stingray's image (on another hand one might argue it is free advertising for the Stingray), but then I don't know anything about this fancy-schmancy copywrite law stuff, so I'll shut up now.

Yeah, me, either. My apartment is currently full of law books, but that's because my girlfriend is finishing up law school. :D In fact, she's taking her last final as I type!
