What are your guys thoughts on leaving a guitar (in the case) in the trunk of your car all day long? On Friday, I have to work all day, rush to my daughter's school to see her chorus concert, and then to the bar to play at 9pm. I don't think it is going to be too hot by Friday, but I just hate leaving nice instruments in the car that long. Don't know if I have other options though.

I don't like it. For all kinds of reasons I never ever leave guitars in the car unless I am in there with them

Even if the temp outside isn’t hot, I would not leave mine unattended in a trunk. It would be on my mind all day long.

ive got a massive (guitar sized) cool pack for groceries that i use
honestly ive no idea why you would ever buy that much groceries at once, and even if, why you wouldnt just use 5 or 7 regular sized cool packs.. perhaps they had guitars in mind, though i highly doubt it.

... anywho... keeps the guitar at a moderate temperature all day long :)
maybe ernie ball should start making them

"big poppas coffin sized sandwich coolpacks"
"big poppas temperamental coffin carriers"
"big poppas temperamental coffin sized logistic packages" ?

what you guys reckon? :)

i wouldn't do it at all... if i know im needing my guitar after work and i don't have time to swing by the house to pick it up... i take it in my office and set it next to my desk... its way safer.... if it's a common area i would even take the extra measure and lock the case just so curious eyes don't open it and ding 'er up...

just take it in with ya... i wouldn't risk the chance of something happening... also if you're wife is going to be at your daughters show have her bring it and pick it up there... or if you trust someone who is going to go to the show (a family member only) you could go that route as well...

as for me... nobody but me touches my guitars... if there's a dent, ding or scratch it's on me...

Where are you parking your car? I can make sure that noone else gets to it...before me! Seriously: 1) I'm not that kind of guy, and 2) I doubt your car insurance will cover a missing EBMM. There was a post on the forum last week regarding a stolen guitar that was won in a contest then left alone in a vehicle and it went missing: Stolen Guitar Link. Tough lesson to learn.

I thought about bringing it into the office, but I think it would be a bit embarrassing to carry it across the manufacturing floor along the way. I probably should think of something though. I used to leave my acoustic in my trunk all day long a few years back when I used to jam with this other guy, but I don't care as much about that guitar. - It still plays good.

I wouldn't worry about embarrassment from carrying your guitar into work. I used to bring my guitar into work if I had practice or a gig after work. Its better than your guitar being damaged from being left in your vehicle or being ripped off by somebody.

+1 man. Hot temperatures can be mean to the case and the guitar, I've seen it and its NOT pretty. Not on my Ball tho! Dont be alarmed people :D

If the car was parked under a HUGE shadow, and on a safe parking spot I wouldn't worry as much, but as someone else said, it would be on my mind all day. Much better into the workplace IMHO.

Couldn't agree more. I've practiced at lunch before :)
Between thieves and the temp, I sure wouldn't want to leave it in the car.

Wish I hadn't left my Martin J40 in the car.......would the embarrassment of carrying it into work be more than the embarrassment of making out the police report?

Never leave a guitar in a vehicle. It doesn't take long for the temp to change to dangerous levels. A salesman once told me, "treat it like a people."

I'm with the rest of these guys. Don't leave it in the trunk of your car. There are all sorts of things that could happen. If you've got a place to keep it at work...I'd take it inside with you.

It really depends on what the temp is like that day. I mean if it is cloudy and in the 60's or 70's you would be fine. If the sun is a shinin' though and you are in some heat, no way in hell would I leave a nice guitar for more than a few minutes. Depends on the day and the temp.
