Is it just me, or is the market flooded with EBMM guitars for sale? On Ebay alone there are over 400 EBMM guitars for sale right now..........It seems to have doubled in the last 1-2 months.

You should count only those with realistic prices.

There are a lot of people just parking goods on Ebay since listing is practically free now.

There are only 5 non-OLP with bids right now and one is a misfiled bass.

The used guitar market is broken, as someone who's bought and sold guitars for over 20 years, I am struggling to turn ANYTHING around right now.

There is no money, there is no appetite for premium high end instruments and I suspect it'll stay that way until at least April. Bartering works to a certain extent but the US is the only one with a decent platform to do so (and you have to be prepared to take non guitar items as trades) - the best we can do is buy new and wait for the Zombie invasion!

There is too much pressure from deals on new instruments. It started black Friday and didn't end. The Gibson guitar sales are still on, you can still get Fender AVRI basses and guitars for cheap on Amazon. Tops of "hot deals" out there plus 10% or 15% off coupons that they can't use to buy from you.

Not only that but other areas such as photography gear have the same sales, and they drain away people's play money. That affects instruments sales.

This is the way it goes every year as beej has already stated. Think of any brand of guitar and you will see a lot of guitars for sale near the holidays as a lot of people need- The Scratch. I always keep some spare scratch on the side for this time of year as it is the best month of the year to land something really nice at a bargain price..

A lot of those are new guitars, either being sold or back-doored by dealers.

This is just a lousy time of year to sell gear. It picks up again after the 1st of the year, peaking around April. It then goes into the summer doldrums, picking up again in the fall.

Throw in the broader economic situation and it's gonna be hard to move much this time of year.

yea maybe killer deals over in the u.s. but here in Australia you still pay 'an arm and a leg'.
I ordered a standard Axis and paid $2670 over 5 months ago and I'm still waiting for the guitar....oh and add an extra $1200 if you want the BFR version. yea everything seems to almost double in price over here once it crosses a big ocean.
The market as a whole for all brands is flooded, killer deals on new ones compounded by a still piss poor economy and second hand buyers wanting rock bottom leads to a slow second hand market.

yet that being said I could have picked up 2 used ones from ebay , but not much variety in specs and colours to choose from.
Natural and gold quilt tops seem to be the most popular for sale on the net lately

Well it is not just EBMM it is basically every brand! You can type in Fender on Ebay and find 5,000 listings for Tele's and Strat's with guys taking $500 losses on new guitars. The same can be said of PRS guitars as there were a few threads on the GP with guys asking why the value of PRS guitars plummeted. Never owned one so I could not say lol, but I do not buy guitars to flip so I do not really worry about resale. The reality is that most people are hurting for money and the economy sucks so the last 4 years it has been great for buyers and brutal for sellers. Most guys now are much more open to trade for a guitar of equal value then getting lumped up selling. It boils down to patience whichever side of the fence you are on. The best advice is to make sure you buy a guitar you love as there are not many things you can buy and have for 10 years or longer and break even on or even make a profit. Just think of all the guys who sunk huge amounts of scratch into vintage guitars only to see that bubble burst. Sure a lot of guys made a fortune when the going was good but what about the non players who gobbled them up as if they were buying stocks and bonds who do not even play=Ouch!

There's also a lot of inquisition going on before anybody bites. I sold a couple guitars this week and there was real work involved in measuring all kinds of things and answering other questions.

I sold a gorgeous Suhr on ebay last year at a crazy knock-down price which almost brought tears to my eyes. I was hoping for a last minute surge of bids that never came. I tried to sell my Wolfgang soon after but pulled the auction before it ended as I lost my nerve. Never done that before. I received tons and tons of questions as well, but very few genuine bidders. I plan to sell some of my EBMM collection this year but am not sure of the best way. Think I'll try this forum before Ebay, and maybe TGP? I think we had it too good for too long before everything went bad.

Even the EVHMM guitars are selling for way to cheap these days on Ebay. We have had several years of a terrible economy, & who really knows what is coming next. It is certainly a nice time to buy though!

Yep it's a great market for buyers out there... you should all be sending me emails! :D

With the SBMM line and SUB series there are some smokin deals out there, too.

Tollie the only email I have from you is from way back in July 2011 in regards to a purple quilt y2d w/Floyd and I sent a reply. If I missed an email that is more recent then I'm sorry, please use the link in my signature as the forum email doesn't always work.
