I'm no Luthier, but have some time on my hands.
I have a chance to get an old "Lotus Les Paul".
90% of it is there, but I'd like to take it apart.
Strip it down, then take off the Paint/Finish, re-stain it,
Lacquer it and put it back together.
As you can see I'm not that versed in it, but I figure what the Hell.
If it comes to putting it back together and I have problems,
then I've got someone to help.
I was wondering if anyone else here has done this and could give me a few pointers on things like taking the Guitar apart (what to watch out for),
and how to strip the paint, (I was gonna use some "Zip Strip" paint remover.
Any pictures, advice, links would be appreciated.
The "Simpler" in explanations....the better.

I think if you would like to do this and have someone who has done it before be the apprentice and watch and learn. If you are asking for tips on dismantling a guitar you are not quite qualified to do this, as you are going to have to remove tone and volume pots and the pups, wires and then you are going to have to re-soder everything back correctly plus a lot more. It is cool you are interested in doing all this but I think you would be better off buying a wreck on ebay for under $100 and a few books on the subject and experiment on that before using a Les Paul as your learning guitar.
