You dude I am in Giffnock at the moment on holiday just down the road from you. We should get together and jam.

Now for the answer.

For me family first. They know i love to play but i have to support them at the moment. My little one has learning difficulties and I am shelling out about £100 a week. You would do it too if it was your son or daughter. I love them to bits and they let me play what i have.

Cheers,

Jonny.

Even in my wild and woolly youth (which was, I'll admit in retrospect, a little too wild and too woolly for my own good) I would often go for stretches without owning a guitar (pawned, you know) but I'd never go without a girl friend - I mean, where wood I live? Who would buy me food? Who's makeup would I borrow before the next show?!? (hey, it was the early-mid eighties)

Now, older and wiser, with a loving wife who's one of my best friends and three beautiful children, there isn't a question, not a moment's hesitation... I would die for these people; I'd certainly give up my guitar gear for them. Hell, if it came to it, I'd sell off my guitars to care for my cats - they're part of my family too, and by accepting them into my house I have accepted responsibility for their care and well-being. Ultimately, guitars are just things, and life is full of things, most of which can be replaced... The connections we establish with other lives around us are our sole legacy - our guitars never miss us when we're gone...

You just have to pick the right g/f.

My lawyer once told me "Jay, you can marry more money in 5 minutes than you can make in a lifetime ..."

(It sank in as I continued to fight with the ex over whether or not I was going to be able to keep the house ...)

I strike a balance. My girlfriend lives in the USA, and I live in the UK. When I go to see her, or when she comes here, I dont even think about the guitar. I just like to focus all my attention on her. Of course when I am not with her, I spend all my weekends gigging, and play guitar most days. She is coming to stay with me for a few months later on in the year, and its just going to be a balance. Bit of give and take. I think you can have both if you have balance. She encourages me to buy more guitars, and even helps me ship them! She tells me a need a green guitar!

I think a good woman won't go trying to change your or messing with your life.

I certainly wouldn't go trying to change some woman into being something she isn't.

Love each other for who you are, not who you think you should be. ;)

That's all well and good.......until the first kid arrives. Then, everything changes, whether you want it to or not.

Milky Way, Earth, North America, that's as specifi
8 years happily married, no children.

Probably has something to do with the "happily" part. :D

Now, if I were fabulously wealthy and could afford the "help" I'd need to manage a family (as we both work full-time, demanding jobs), it would be different possibly.

All I can say is until you have them, you can't imagine why anyone would want them.

Once you have them, you can't imagine not having them!:D
