So I have a JP6 coming in and it's the first guitar I will own that will not have a pickguard.

How does the finish hold up when a pick comes into contact such as doing full 6 string chord strums?

Is it pretty robust? or do I need to just be extra careful with technique or are there any ways of maintaining the finish?

Thanks

Depends on your technique. Generally I try to hit the strings and not the guitar, and that works rather well. But some slight scratching is inevitable.

It holds up well though I'm sure you'll begin to notice a few over time. I personally don't play aggressive enough to have to worry about it, but I did notice a bunch of pick marks on one of mine at one point (I won't say how I think they got there). The clear is high quality and urethane based, similar to automotive clear. Confirmed by contacting support a while back. I buffed mine out to perfection using some Menzerna automotive polishes with foam pads. Looks brand spanking new.
