Question Hand gel

Hay there folks, just wondering if anyone at EMBB has done a study on the effects of hand gel on unfinished guitar necks?

I use hand gel at work but if i am playing guitar i always switch to good old soap and water.

So question............. can hand gel effect my neck and fretboard?????

What kind of gel? I'm curious. Winter chaps the ever loving cr*p out of my hands. Could your gel be a better alternative to finding a better soap?

I always try to use soap and water when I am playing guitar - wondered about that also.

My hands dry out really bad during the winter and I do use lotion and a good quality hand soap. I've had good luck using dove soap. But I always wash my hands really good with Dawn dish soap before I play without any problems.

What kind of hand gel are you talking about? Like the alcohol based hand sanitizing gel or hand lotion? I can't imagine the sanitizing gel doing any kind of damage...it evaporates completely and it dissolves a lot of the oils on your hands. I really wouldn't make a habit putting lotion on your hands and then playing. A few times here and there won't hurt, but long term I wouldn't want to work lotion into the neck.
