Has anyone ever had issues with discomfort or lingering pain from wearing your wedding ring while playing? I bartend and play quite often and have been experienced some pain issues for a while. Anybody ever have any similar problems? I talked with my wife about not wearing it for awhile to see if clears itself up.

I have issues with my wedding ring as well. I don't wear it when I play and will often take it off when I get home and am just hanging out.

When I bend strings I squeeze my hand together and I think this is what's been irritating my hand. pain/discomfort is in the knuckle and top of hand. I'm sure some of its from overuse, I had tendonitis quite bad last year, but day one of not having my ring on and playing is going ok so far.

I try and take my ring off when playing to help reduce the risk of scratching the side of the neck.

I wear my ring around my neck, on my chain with my dog tags, ( that chain has not come off my neck since 2010) even in the shower! Lol.

I've been married for almost 33 years. I haven't worn a wedding ring for at least 20 of those years for that reason. Neither of us wear our wedding rings - our knuckles and fingers have changed in size over the years, if we put them on, they aren't coming off.

I feel naked without my wedding ring !

I wear it for more than 18 years (and I can still remove it easily ... and I can still wear my wedding suit !!! Long distance running can be blessed for that)

If I forget to wear my wedding ring, I also experience acute pain. Oh, that's the opposite of what you're saying. Take two. Uh, what wife wouldn't be totally cool with her man hanging around in bars on late nights and weekends with a naked ring finger?

Mine never seems to bother me. But the old left pocket trick should work. That is unless you're wearing skin-tight leather pants for your Yngwie cover band, in which case you might try attaching it to one of the many necklaces or charm bracelets.

A couple of options:

A fireman friend of mine wears a rubber wedding ring. It looks like metal but it's thin and if it gets caught on anything it will rip off without ripping your finger off with it.

Maybe try a different alloy and something lower profile or thinner?

I'm just going to not wear it for awhile, see if it changes how my hand feels. My wife is cool about it and understands. As far as the ring itself it was my fathers wedding ring, after he passed, my mother gave it to me along with the engagement ring he gave to her as a gift when I announced I was getting married. We at the time had little money for rings, wedding expenses, ect. The ring fits me, but maybe its a bit too big or doesn't fit as well as it could. I guess I could go to a jeweler and make sure its sized correctly.

It's never bothered me in the last 17 years either, well, perhaps it felt a little foreign to me at first as I can recall but I got used to it and can't remember the last time it affected my horrible playing :D
