hartke=crap

overly bright, tinty sounding metallic metal cones...what the hell was that mullet-head thinking when he had THAT idea? I have that hartke guys cell phone number from his latest add in BP and I'm half tempted to drink 10 beers and call him up and leave some nasty words on his machine.

If you buy hartke, all I can say it treat it very very good or else it will end up like every other hartke I've had the misfortune of playing through. broke
Just read all these other posts! One in three posts has a story about sending their hartke gear back to the manufacturer. One guy said he's sent his in once a year for 3 years! It is freaking pathetic.
Any amp that can ruin the tone of a MM is crap. Sorry for the rant! No not really, cause I'm right.

I'll end on a positive. Yes, they are affordable.

I've had all kinds of amps, swr, eden heads and cabs, peavey, hartke, etc. my current setup for the past 5 years has been a gallien krueger 700rb, and a hartke 410XL, i have never been let down by these (i play an average of 5 days a week).
Shure, i know swr and eden sound a little better, but they are more expensive and when i used them five days a week, after a few months i had problems with amp fuses, tweeters, crossover fuses, and they were not any lighter. So maybe hartke its not the most audiophile option out there, but they are a very useful choice, and i dont see the point in the name calling to Larry Hartke just because you can and he's not present to defend himself.
IMHO of course.

Very well said.

I'll bet Larry Hartke has sold more bass amplifiers than just about everyone here on this forum*. I remember a time when it seemed that every bass player you saw on TV was playing a Hartke rig. I've played them in the past and would play one again.

I also don't think a service is done to anyone here when that type of rant is aired.

*(CEO of GC is a forum member and has probably sold more bass amps.)

didnt someone on the board actually ring larry hartke's mobile and he actually answered and was quite a decent bloke? - i don;t really think ringing him up and abusing him because you don't like his products is really that fair. just don't use them, don't reccomend them to friends :)

was actually listening to a bassist play through a hartke last night and the tone was quite well balanced. Sure they aren't the best... but if i had to choose between hartke and say behringer - i would choose hartke every time.

Joe Nerve called Larry Hartke...

And I met with, shook hands with, and spoke with Larry Hartke at Bass Player Live. Just to say "Hi" and thank him for a great rig.

Funny thing, he quickly pointed out "This is Stu Hamm" who was standing next to him. I replied "Yeah, I recognized him" and continued to chat with Larry.

I love my rig, and it don't stand behind me to impress anyone. Everyone has an opinion - and there is no such thing as a "wrong opinion"...

In my opinion, of course...

Bringing up to date this topic cause I am just taking a doubt.
I´ve got a 3500 Hartke amp with Hartke VX 4X10 since a couple of years. As everybody I can tell you they aren´t the best bassman gear but fullfill the job without ANY problem at all. 3500 Hartke Amp is like a practical smal car: Cheap, efficient, all-purposing. It could be a classical small (VW Golf -Europe, Chevrolet Silverado -USA) but not a Mercedes Benz. You can´t expect that spending 400$. It would not be fair.

I think my bass gear is enough to perform in small gigs but the 4X10 is so heavy to carry. I am thinking to purchase a Markbass 151 Traveller Cabinet, I could hear good reviews about that brand and is just 17 kg weight (VX 410 = 32,6 kg).
I also think that VX410 sounds a bit dark and undefined because it is designed to be used with a 15" in longer stages.

Summing up: What about Martkbass 151 Traveler with 3500 Hartke?
Thanks.
