I've bought it on ebay from a US seller, didn't really take too long to get here and it wasn't that expensive either, when you think it's 32 fl oz bottle = 946cl (almost a litre bottle).

It'll probably last me more than the bass itself when you consider that you'll have to dilute it 3 part "gear" with 1 part water. ;)

Here the geezer's eBay ad:

Murphy's

I got the Birchwood casey Tru oil and wax as recommended for the neck, in the UK from a sporting gun shop.

If this is a suitable alternative, please let me know

cheers

Hi Kaiser.
I bought some BC oil and wax from a gun shop in NI.
Out of interest where did you get yours from?

The "Murphys" is more of a cleaner with the BC Gunstock oil/wax used after the prep work.

Our US cousins mention Murphy's quite a bit. You can Google it and get all kinds of references to it - even on UK Gardening forums - but try sourcing a UK supplier!!
I wonder if it meets EU requirements? - there again E bay sellers are allowed to export it.

Dunno - it's strange

I can definitely pick some of this up and ship it to you if you'd like. Not sure what it would cost to ship it to ya but I am willing if you end up needing to resort to importing it.

Before you buy it, make sure you are going to be able to ship a product like that. Some companies might not ship it and some countries might not allow import or export. The ingredients seem pretty tame, but you never know.

Spud, I imported a bottle of this stuff a while back on a trip to the states. Lets say I now use Wonder Wipes Fretboard Conditioner to clean the fretboard and neck. The Murphys Oil Soap left our hallway looking and smelling nice though!

Murphy's Oil Soap is really a vegatable oil based cleaner, it's not good for real hardwood floors that require refinishing every so often, cause it puts oil on the surface that doesnt sand out too well. I think it's intended use is for raw wood.

Thanks guys for all the kind offers to send me some and for the advice given.

See how powerful a media message can be?

Delia Smith on the TV over here in the UK recommends xyz as a cooking ingredient, and the next day xyz has sold out in the big supermarkets.

Drew mentions Murphy's in his EB neck cleaning video and next, there's a world shortage
