Now Bill that impresses me! I love all those guys. The one time I played the Grand Old Opry, Jimmy C. Newman was on the show that night. We've done other shows as well, is "Big Foot" still playing drums with him?

I'm a "coon-ass" at heart.:D

I jamed with jerry cantrell & friends at a studio in redmond.

I did percussion for Shinedown for an acoustic performance in colorado.

i think there's more but i was always on the otherside of the stage, running sound or something of the likes...

of course, none of this was with bands.

I kissed Chad Smith for a photo once at a drum clinic. Never came out (phew) but I have some other cool ones from that night.

:D I'm not sure who's playing drums with him these days. In fact, last I heard Jimmy C. Newman wasn't doing too well. He's still playing as far as I know, but he's apparently slowing down a bit. I jammed with his band at the Mark O'Connor Fiddle Camp near Nashville back in '94. When I sat in, Wayne Toups made an appearance & sat in on some songs, too. Pretty cool! Doug Kershaw & Jo-El Sonnier dropped in a couple of times (not together) at Mulate's Cajun Restaurant in Breaux Bridge, LA, when I was playing there. I tell ya, when Doug showed up, I got real nervous about him playing my fiddle! (He's pretty rough on his instruments.) My fiddle made it through just fine, but I had wisely put my good bow back in the case & let him use a cheap Brazilwood bow that I have. He gave it quite a few scars. :D

Bill, do you know Bobby Hicks? The last time I seen him we were in Switzerland and at the end of the tour he was headed to Mark O’Conner’s fiddle camp to teach for a couple of days. That would have been around 94.

Bobby is a great fiddle player and one cool old dude.

King Edward (Smitty) Smith IV, and that was his real name, got him out of a lot of traffic tickets. He worked in Roanoke VA back in the 70’s and that was a major test market. It was often said that if a new song was a hit there it would be a national hit in three weeks.

I would often show up early and hang out at King’s station; it was like a who’s who of country music. I seen George Jones, Haggard, Charlie Pride and I can’t remember all the up and coming artist that had all stopped by just to make nice with King… and encourage him to play their record.

I’ve got a few stories about Ralph Emory too; I’ve played his TV shows around twenty times. I always had a blast in Nashville, never lived there, but I used to have to go there a lot back in my country music days.

I think you've aced us all here, Chuck!

Yeah!

"Game over, man! Game over!"

Ever hear of the Samples? I used to jam with their original bass player, Andy Sheldon, back when we was kids in Vermont. Nice guy and a monster musician. The lead singer was from our town in Vt. as well...

Didn't he play with Ricky Skaggs? I don't know him, but I do know of him. Helluva fiddler! I don't remember him being at the fiddle camp. I guess either I missed him or maybe he went the next year or so.
