When I was mad enough to join this forum - there were few people who owned them on the forum. There were only the likes of Beej, MbGreen Pasarelle - even Rob2 didn't have one then!!!

I was welcomed by JimiD who had a couple of Als and answered all my Noobie questions with great patience.

I had only played an AL for a couple of minutes - a brand new one which had been ordered by a customer and I had to be sooo careful playing it (rightly so!)

I went on to order my AL which was a big gamble at the time - and the rest is history.

I tell ya what, I played a lot 30 years ago and wish I had one then !!

Anyway, I'll stop rambling !!

I think I'd be right in saying that the AL is now owned by a lot more people on the forum - to such an extent that the ALOC has had to find a larger clubhouse ha!

Don't forget the online Xmas party sometime in December - I'll post details soon.

Certainly seems to be more popular around here these days! And well deserved.

Only the keepers of the production numbers would know for sure if it's getting more popular :)

When I joined the forum, there was a big hype around the AL. Rob(elinda) collectes his AL´s at that time. Without this place I would have never considered buying one.

The reality seems to be a bit different:
When mine was on ebay for a fair price, I was the only one who bidded.
A few weeks later there was a new one with piezo and signature of Albert Lee for a sensational price - not sold...

I've noticed a trend in forumites getting ALs, and I blame the ALOC for that :D

It is a very underrated guitar, and it should be in the spotlight more often.

Agreed!!!!

Someday I'd like to get another AL, but that's a long ways off. I like Robs forum special, that's just what I'd love to see/get. ;)

Rob picture please!!!!!

It's really just a great guitar. It's light, well balanced and has great ergonomics and playability to go along with a great sound. Much like life, people have to get over their initial prejudices based on looks and dare to be different. Glad to see it picking up steam and gettin' a little R-E-S-P-E-C-T here on the forum, and then hopefully assimilating to the uninitiated in the outside world.

To everyone out there - Just play one, that's all we at the ALOC can ask, and you'll understand.

You nailed me there. When I first came to the forum, I thought the AL was hideous. After reading the praises of the AL from all the ALOC members, the looks started to grow on me more and more. Then I finally played one and loved it. I will own an AL one day -- just a matter of time. Hopefully by then I can get a RW neck :D

Honestly, I thought the same many years ago. Since I came into the EBMM fold five years ago, I've grown to think the AL looks super cool. Then, I played the 2006 LE AL in Dallas two years ago. I never could forget how good it was. Now, I've got one. :D Maybe, I'll have a BFR one day.

I'm looking forward to checking another one out in a year or two. It didn't knock me out the first time I saw it, but now that I know a bit more about the balance and craft with which EBMM make guitars, I'm looking forward to checking one out. Albert Lee is an amazing player.

I have a couple of other ones to pick up first, though!

It's definitely this forum that made me aware of the AL sig model. Many of you guys that I highly appreciate here bought one (or many many more, Rob :D) and were just psyched about what this little thingy does...
Now that Steffen (banjoplayer) owns one and is absolutely nuts about it, I fancy one too...
Let's see - they are quand meme a rare find in Germany.

Long live the AL !

...and yeah Spud, it's all the ALOC's fault... ;)

Yeah, I would have to say it has increased in "popularity" if you will.

The AL is, IMHO, THE most underated guitar in existance today. It sits well on your lap, very well balanced when standing, and the feel of the neck is remarkable.

It sounds simply awesome and it is on my wish list.

Well, the AL certainly seems to have gained popularity at my place! I find it an excellent choice for any sort of music, and always have one or two at each gig. For our Hallowe'en gig, I'm thinking of wearing a suitable wig and playing nothing but my ALs, just to see if anyone can figure out "who" I am....as long as I don't attempt to play Country Boy, some of them may just have a chance...;)
