I hope you don't mind me sharing this with you. My Sons' band recently recorded a few tracks with the intention of putting together an album of about a dozen songs. It was engineered by a young student using Adobe Audition on his bedroom set up and I think they can justifiably be proud of the results. There a few small glitches , but it was all done in a day. They are all 14/15 years old, and the songs are all written and arranged by themselves. It was also their first time they've done any kind of recording session. I appreciate it won't be to everybody's taste but of course I think they're great

I haven't yet managed to get them to see the light when it comes to which guitars they should be playing, they are all playing USA F*****s :p but give me time LOL . Fortunately my son is the drummer so I won't have to shell out any more cash when they realise what they are missing.

Please feel free to leave them messages and of course guide them (forcibly if necessary) in the right direction with their instrument choices. They'd appreciate your comments.

They call themselves 'In Mono'

Here's the link to their Myspace page. In Mono on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads.

I listened to "Sweetheart". Reminds me of early Clash and very early Police recorded for a conglomeration album called Paranoia (or something like that) in the mid 70's in NYC. I like it.

It's interesting what different people hear. I can spot some early Jam / Weller in there and snippets of U2 guitar style. My favourites are 'Heartbreak' and 'You don't know nothing'....both really catchy and punchy tunes. Thanks for having a listen.

Isn't it amazing what 14 and 15 year olds can do now? All those original tunes recorded so well and posted on the internet for the world to hear. Kids are so savvy now. What was I doing at that age? Lifting the tone arm up and down trying to cop Hendrix and Page licks. Being original hadn't occurred to me yet. Still hasn't, come to think of it.

LOL I think it was 'Maybellene' and 'Schooldays' by Chuck Berry for me and and old Grundig 'reel to reel' recorder from the sixties :D You are right what you say though, the technical ability and talent of teenage musicians these days is incredible.

I had a Chuck Berry's Greatest Hits double-album. It had a hard life but the C.B. chords with the pinky-hammer and several good double-stop licks were learnt.

My guess is that being exposed to music all of one's young life , will, by osmosis, improve one abilities at a much earlier age! Proud Dad? I would say and then some!! Nice job to the kids! I wish I could have played in a band that cool, when I was in High School. The young ladies would not have known what hit 'em!!!
