This issue is bothering me too. I have a custom built acoustic by a UK based builder and I would probably get the chair for travelling to the states! :) It's got a Brazilian rosewood board, and honduran mahogany back/sides/neck. The oldest piece of wood was roughly 100 years old when I went and picked the blanks out for it back in 2001.

As for my musicman and my Yamaha semi, well, I don't think I would want to risk it. With foreign dates looming, i think i will be purchasing a guitar from lesser brand, fitting it with nice electronics and sanding the finish off the neck.

It would break my heart to lose a guitar due to a sensible and necessary- if poorly executed- law.

I've been reading background about this stuff and I was hoping to get a short article together to explain the hows and whys and whats, how Gibson's problems don't affect us, and what our responsibilities are if we travel with guitars containing materials from protected species. Bear with me, I hope to have time to finish it in a day or two.
