I like Luke.

I want a Luke.

Everytime I play a Luke, I can't get around it. It doesn't feel good in my hands. I remember when I picked up a Silo Spec. it felt great in my hands and it was great to play.

Everyweek for the last month, I've gone to the guitar store to play the Luke they have and I can't get around it. Is the Luke just not for me?

Jagged, if the Silo Special works, stick with it man. I liked the JP, but it just wasn't for me. Not every guitar is gonna work, no matter how hard you want it to man. The Lukes a great guitar, but it either feels good in your hands or it doesn't.

I'm telling you, if you like the Silo Special, grab a 20th and you'll be floored man!!

Good luck, Glenn |B)

It seems like an easy equation.

patient - "doctor it hurts when I do this"
doctor - "then don't do that!"

If the Silo works, then use the Silo!

Yeah! Go with silo if that's more comfortable...As for me i don't have any problems with any of the necks that EBMM make, but i have a favorite and that's my JP'S.

yep, if the Silo feels great then that's the bird for you man! :D

Seriously though, if you're digging the EMGs in the Luke then get an HSS Silo Spc. and then get a set of Luke signature EMGs put in it.... a bit of a pain but then at least you're getting the guitar that'll do it all for you.

So why do you think you want this guitar if you've tried it & don't like it?
I had the same problem with a Martin 00028 which I convinced myself I wanted and bought. Spent 2 years really trying to like it & get used to it then sold it at a huge loss. The new owner raves about it. Not every guitar will work for everyone.....I guess that's why there are so many different ones to choose from.

this happened to me with the Y2D really wanted that guitar when I tried it I knew I will never get one cause I was not comfortable at all with it.

I still think the Y2D is gorgeous guitar but not for me :D

I will get a silo spec with rosewwod neck and upgrade it with EMG's (SL20 kit) if you want that Luke sound.

Ian Crichton from Saga did it with a Silo so it works for him must be good for you :D

I'll just repeat what everyone else have been saying: stick with what works for you - and if you really want the Luke EMG setup it's a ridiculously easy mod with EMG's kits. Just get the EMG SL20 kit and an HSS Silo Special, then move the EMGs to the Silo pickguard and you're done.

Cheers

For one thing...different neck contours. For the life of me, I could not get around the Luke neck when I was playing kbaim's. Love the sound and all, just the "V" neck is not to my liking. I had a hard time with the Silo for some reason as well. The Axis and JP necks are more to my liking yet vastly different. The Y2D is nice as well.

Play the one that feels good in your hands. If you are comfortable with the axe sitting in your hands, you will concentrate on playing with feeling uncomfortable. Get the Silo if that is what feels better.

I like the Luke because of the sound and the look of it... There's something about not having a pick guard that really gets me going...

I wish there was a Y2D that I can play...

Yeah, some guitars look great but just don't feel. I feel that way about the JP- I'd love to have one but it just isn't comfy.

Dude- if you can't find a Y2D you're welcome to try mine. I'm in the city.

The Y2D is a little heavier (mine is, anyway) and the pickups are hotter, but set further away from the strings. Different switching configuration (standard 5-way switch vs a 3-way switch and two toggles). Also the Y2D features a new slimmer neck profile (new Morses in the last year or so have this too). A few people have commented that the maple cap makes it a bit brighter, but I haven't noticed that so much.

The Y2D is a killer guitar. (But find me an EBMM that's not ...)

Have you been able to try more than 1 Luke? The necks do differ a bit.

I'd pull the trigger on the silo and put the emg's in it if that works for you...and be on the lookout for other Lukes you might see at other stores that might feel better. I love 'em!

I havent been able to try more than 1 luke... There's only one in the city and it sits on the wall at the local guitar store..

I already have the silo, I was considering getting a luke but ran into some difficulties... i don't really want another silo b/c i already have one... i'm looking into a morse now

Jagged, 20th Silo man, absolutely sweet!!!! Find I I highly recommend it!!!!
