Ok got the HD 500 v2 hooked up to a single GK Neo2x12 (running full range) and the word I have is "WOW!" (actually you can safely add a couple of expletives in front of "WOW"). This amp rocks. Running at 8ohms it has some serious teeth (I think it is running 375 at 8ohms). The sound is phenomenal… much better than I remember at OH (but with all the alcohol consumed, I am surprised I remember anything). It is very responsive and works well with the Bongo’s 3-band. The LVR control is nice (reminds me of a kind of low-pass filter) and the Boost switch kicks in some added oomph. I like the idea of the series/parallel effect loop (I haven’t hooked in my effects yet, though).
I WISH:
1) There was an individual LVR for each channel (and that it was footswitchable).
2) There was a blend for the effects loop and that they were footswitchable.
It is different from the GK2001, which I also love. It is one of those things where I KNOW they are different, but it is hard to put into words. I am gigging it out on Sat night (full stack) and I’ll see how it holds up. I will post more Sunday (as well as the obligatory picts).
I will say this, this was an incredible deal and I highly recommend it (those of you at OH know what I’m talking about here).
It is a damn shame that EBMM discontinued the line – they are fine pieces of equipment!!!
