Hearing, & GoingBongo

does EBMM recommend any particular brand of cases,

Any generic rectangular hard case that fits a 4 string Stingray, Sterling, Precision, Jazz or Rickenbacker should fit a Bongo 4. Cases I have at home that fit my Bongo include an SKB, a Gator, a factory tolex Stingray case, a Hiscox, a custom made ATA flight case that was made for a Jazz, and a custom made ATA double flight case that was made to suit two Stingrays.

Q1 - does EBMM absolutely Not supply any case for the Bongo?
or is a case an 'option' from EBMM?

EBMM now ships their Bongos, be it either a four or five banger, with hardshell cases.

is there a website or some online dealer that has more info or ordering info on these er-15 and er-25 earplugs? i honestly hate that treble loss of regular ones, but im 17 and i havent done much gigging, but i have done some, and i dont want to be wearing hearing aids by the time im 40.

Skabassist13, check your phone book for an Audiologist in your area. Ask for musician’s ear plugs and they “should” know what you’re talking about. Get the fitted type because they will fit much better and be easier to deal with.
You’ll have to go in for them to make the molds of your ear canal, a weird feeling process where they fill your ears a shaving cream like foam that sets up very fast. They then send this off and in a week or so you go back and pick them up.

I can not recommend this enough! Do this early on and be diligent in using them and you’ll never wind up like me.

For real loud environments the ER-25, for lesser levels ER-15. I have both but most often use the ER-25’s.

I bought a Radio Shack volume meter and anything above 85db is when I reach for the plugs.

This is a sort of survey
Part A)
Who of you can hear what ? Who wears ear protection?
Who has suffered hearing loss from overexposure in excessive loud band / gig environments ?

Bought a pair of custom molded plugs 6years ago, and they've proven to be a good investment. The sound is still nueanced and the treble is still OK even with the 25dB filter. I got both the 15dB and the 25dB filters to alter with, and use them on rehersals, gigs and when going to concerts.

Strongly recommended!!
