Hey Cali’ EB Folks,
I would kindly welcome any known venue suggestions you all can make for my new instrumental band, Hectic Watermelon, which is now contacting small venues up the CA coast to Northern CA and down the Central Valley for a mid-August tour. (I guess this is EB related insofar as these is the only guitars I use with this band!) I have already contacted about 25 places I know of, folks have recommended, or places other rock-fusion groups have been booked in the recent past. We are mainly out to promote our new album with Jerry Goodman and build a listener base beyond So CA, so I just don’t want to go to far into the hole while still paying my players decently for their commitment. Our live shows have been for everything for an empty bar of 20 fusion fans to full 400 seat theaters to big outdoor festivals. However, outside our turf, size of venue's are looking more like small (100 or less) places since we are relatively new.
Thus far, I’ve put in calls/emails to a few places in Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Monterey/Santa Cruz, San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento, and a few Central Valley venues. I figure I may have to launch over 100 emails and calls to just get a few things lined up for this commercially-challenging type of music! If I can get stuff booked soon enough, then I can get my promotional engines humming and enlist my publicist to help, but time is ticking.
Additionally, I hope to do a clinic or two to help spread the love of Egnater amplifiers/DiMarzio that I represent (and I guess my trusty EBs too) along with my beastly science project of a rig, so music stores that do this sort of thing would be cool too. We can just roar through our set, or do Q and A, or do a very nerdy academic thing as the bassist and I are MM dweeby types, and the drummer is a very serious up-and-coming player.
