Dude - As per a couple of earlier posts (including mine)....the Silo is a great workhorse...bit of eq and you can get pretty much any tone you like.....from memory isn't the one you are looking at HSH - you can get anything with that config dude...very verstile guitar!

...and Ed Halen - you are right dude, this is such a cool place - if this was the VH forums this would have turned into Sam vs Dave by now! LOL

Corwin- welcome to the forum btw. Good luck with the purchase. You're in Toronto? Quite a few guys on the forum here and also quite a few MM dealers in the GTA :)

That's a great looking Silhouette right there! I think for that price you should grab it...and maybe you can talk em down a bit at the store. Silhouette's are great guitars...very comfortable and insanely versatile. They are also very friendly to customize with whatever pickups you desire...and I dont think it will sound anything like Vai's guitar. Overall, I think EBMMs are insanely comfortable to play compared to a lot of other brands. I played a Suhr the other day...great guitar and build quality, but just not as comfortable as the EBMMs that will cost half the price. I will even say that EBMM has better quality to be honest upon my VERY close inspection. I played my Morse Y2D last night, and I just couldnt stop smiling. I almost fell asleep with it in the bed...until my girlfriend told me to put it away hahaha.

Vai-ish eh? I don't really want my tone to sound like Vai (God Love 'em!). I'm more of a Page, Beck, Hendrix, Cantrell, McCready, Thaiyl, etc. kinda guy. But I guess it'd all depend on my amp settings. I am playing through a 5150 though, lol.

Forget about my Vai-ish remark...quite misleading, apologies

Went to check it out at the store!

& Someone had already bought :( I knew posting the link on here was a bad idea:rolleyes: Well, it's alright. I ended up trying one of the new Silouettes they had in stock and I was schocked & disapointed that the neck didn't feel comfortable! It almost seemed sharp at the edges of the fretboard, not smooth at all. When I told the guy at the staore that, he said, well the other one that was sold had a neck just like that, so now I don't feel so bad!.

I then proceeded to try out some other Music Man guitars they had on hand. The Luke was really nice, but not quite right. I can't remember which one it was that had almost a flat neck, but it was awesome, it felt great, very comfortable for my smaller hands! It might have been the John, but I'm not sure. twice the price though. Well, I guess It's back to check out the second one I had in mind (which actually came first in priority to begin with anyways) hopefully that one's still there!

Yeah man, it looked loaded! But that's also what I'll have to be before I can afford one :(

But after looking at some more EBMM models on the site here I think I may have found the other model that I was originally interested in buying. The Steve Morse. It's a bit cheaper $1500 or so. However, I've never seen a pickup configuration like the one its got before (which makes me think it isn't the one at the shop after, we'll see next week when I go to visit her). HSSH Holy Smokes, that sounds awesome!

What do you guys think? Have you had any encounters with the Steve Morse model? If so what were your impressions!? & Do you think they may be selling one that's just an HSH?

Lights out... Ttyl!

It's fantastic. You'll find a lot of love for them here.

The original model is HSSH. The anniversary model ("Y2D") is HSH, so perhaps that's the one you're talking about. The S is right next to the bridge humbucker, not in the middle of the guitar like you'd traditionally see, btw.

The Morse is an incredible guitar - I've had two of them and my dad has one as well........I would say not as comfortable to wear as no cutaways / contours - particularly if you wear the guitar pretty hi...low it's not so much an issue...awesome sounding and incredibly versatile.......there's a theme here! LOL

JP, SM, AL or another EBMM. I'm quite sure once you get one you'll be seriously hooked! @ any rate, good luck in your journey in finding the right one.

Hey guys thanks for the tips! I Do Appreciate them!! guess what!? lol, I Just purchased my FIRST ERNIE BALL MUSIC MAN SILHOuETTE GUITAR TODAY!!!! :DIt's Awesome, it's a HSS model with that SIlent Circuit! It's got a 9-volt compartment to it as well which is weird, because I'm pretty sure there's no Piezo. The guys down at Long & McQuade had no idea :p Some guitar sales men they are, lol. Anyways. just thought I'd let you know! It's te original one that got me interested in purchasing an EBMM to begin with, so I'm glad she's the one I brought home to mama, lol. Anyways, I just jammed out for a solid 3 hours, I think I'm gonna pick'er up again for a little bit. I'm still working out the eq. It's a hella lot brighter that my Squier Strat!

Great score!

more than likely the 9v just runs the silent circuit if there isn't a piezo. But that's going to be one heck of an upgrade from the squire... welcome to the family.
