I bought my first MM Ray on Saturday...what an instrument. I don't have a digital camera, but here is a link to the dealer with a picture of my bass the Autumn Burst one:

I don't know how long the image will be there, since the instrument is no longer in their inventory.

I've only been playing bass for about 10 months now, also own a Fender American Jazz V, & a Jack Casady Sig. My name comes from one of the last songs Charlie Patton recorded before his death in 1934. He is my music idol because of how/what 1 person could do with an acoustic guitar. I played guitar for about 30 years before switching to the bass, years of my job has taken it's toll on my hands & trying to fret those small strings became next to impossible. Wish I had picked up the bass 30 years ago.

I would like to have gotten a 5 string Ray, but I look at the 4 with the egg guard & the chrome plate for the knobs, it is awsome. The 5 with the over sized guard & no chrome plate just did not make it for me. Guess if I need a 5, I always have the Fender.

I've always liked Ernie Ball products, used slinky's on my Les Pauls, volume pedal & other various odds & ends. Found this forum a few weeks ago & got interested in a Ray. Went to the local GC last week, they had a few & a couple Bongo's, they played nice but the color choices just did not do it for me. Then I saw this one on Woodsy's web page & it was love at first sight. Drove down to Kent on Saturday since it is only about 45 min from me & that was all it took. I'm hooked. Already thinking about getting another MM when this one is paid off, but have no idea which yet.

I also received my first MM SR5 this past Saturday..but was about a twenty year wait. Starting out at the top eh? 10 months of playing bass and already owning a MM is like losing your virginity to Pam Anderson!

Just giving you a little ribbing...if I could have had a MM back in the early days I would have jumped at the chance. Welcome to the club!

Howdy, 34 Blues. Your bass looks super. Be forewarned--It won't be too long before we convince you to try some flats on it.

D'oh I forgot to mention, the first thing I did when I got it home was put some TI flats on it.

What are your thoughts of Flats and the Maple fretboard...thinking about stringing up my new Ray with them when it shows up.

Welcome and your story is a lot like mine. Played the guitar 25 years and then the band needed a bass player. I am not looking back for any purpose other than wondering why I didn't pick up the bass sooner.

But as 5 strings go we differ. The SR5 is the best in the business. Well that is my opinion that will remain firm until I play the Bongo5

Enjoy your MM bass and all the gigs you can get.
