Hey guys, I'm going to be buying an Axis Super Sport soon and I have a simple question.

I've played Lukes, and Petruccis and they both have a very smooth, silk-like finish on the neck. The Axis I played at a local music store did not have the same feel. On the MM website it says all there guitar necks are finished the same. Does the Axis SS have a different neck finish than the other MM guitars?

The standard Lukes, Petruccis, Axis, Silhouettes, etc... all have the same unfinished necks. I know the BFR Petrucci (with quilt top) has a different neck, not sure about the BFR Luke.

Its the same neck finish. I find that sometimes they can get a little dry or dirty and a wonder wipe is in store... even on new guitars hanging in the store.

Hey- another Canuck! I'm often in the Hammer :)

As mentioned, it's the same finish- sealed with oil and rubbed with gunstock wax. But occasionally used necks can use some TLC and a re-application of the oil/wax does wonders to make a neck feel slick again.

Love the feel of a new EBMM neck! Wonder Wipes Fretboard Conditioner when I change strings keeps the feel nice and smooth.

Welcome to the Forums !!

Like everyone said, the neck is finished the same as the other models you played, sounds like it just needs a little attention. It's a really easy process, I just did it to my Morse last weekend and the results are stunning.

Check out the EBMM video that gives step by step instruction on how to make that neck feel brand new.

Thanks alot guys, I figured that was that case. I'm pretty sure the guitar just hangs there untouched almost every day (It's kept behind the counter). I'm also fairly sure it has been there for over half a year.

So only one question remains..
..What colour!?

I'm horrible at these kinds of desicions. I not a huge fan of dark colours, but I want something somewhat original but still classy.

A little TLC, some Wonder Wipe action, and you're in business as already mentioned.

I am a fan of some sparingly used 1500-grit sandpaper a couple of times per year as well.

Welcome to the forums!

Great guitar you're enquiring about. I really like the "fancy" ones..nice quilt or tight flames finished in lighter burst finishes!

Best of luck and do post some pics.

I don't know the name of the color, seems like a light maple-natural color, it is one of the best for ASS in my opinion, especially with maple neck. There are some photos of it in the forum.

BTW Welcome...
