As much as I love the JB, I don't think it would sound good in a silo. I think it'd be a bit too trebly...

MMMMMMMM Honeyburst(I think). I like it so much I would swap you Silos even though it would be upside down.

Thanx again for all the replies. Looks like this is a very nice place here.:)
Also, since I want to have an exchange pickguard with SSS or HSS configuratuon I got some questions:
- Is there a good place to get Silo pickguards besides Pickguard Haven (http://pickguards.us/)?
- Were can I buy those connectors which connect the jack to the rest of the electronics?
- I don't know anything about the different singel coil brands and types. What would be a nice set for a typical Strat sound (if there is anything like this)?

Also I noticed that later Silos have different bridge saddles. Do they have any advantages?

Hi Volker and welcome to this fine place !
So it was YOU who scored that beautiful "Knotrocker" from Berlin...
I was having an eye on it, too, but decided the price the seller was asking to be waaaaay beyond reason.
I knew Jimi Hazel (King Hazel) would love this one - it's about the same as his knotrocker, except for the color :)
You can get replacement pickguards as well as the quick-connects through any EBMM dealer or others connected with their German distributor Musik Meyer.
There is a hell of options and looks to choose from (pickguards) and I'd say a Black-Ice or White-Ice would look best on your new axe. But beware and prepare for the pricetags - if you were not shocked by anything before, you will be here :D
Nevertheless I bought 3 original EBMM replacement PGs during the last 2 years for customizing my guitars and adding some options (like different PU sets featuring the quick connects on the PGs). The looks are all killer and the quality is second to none.
If you're looking for some serious Str@t (single coil) tone and don't want no hum, the Kinman AVn should be what you want to have a look at. I have exchanged all my single coils in favor of those and I don't regret a single Cent spent on them. Fabulous tone there !
For the saddles: depending on what you are looking after you can really make a difference by changing them. The solid bent steel ones will add a little more highs and twang, whereas the "block" steel ones might slightly cut a little treble an add some midrange - well, at least to my humble ears that is...

Glad to have you around here and congrats again to that beautiful knotrocker of yours !!!

All the best

Axel

Hi Axel!
Thanx for all the answers. And where in Bavaria are u? I'm from Regensburg. But currently I'm living in Würzburg, which I sometime refuse to call Bavaria, too.

Allready ordered a w-b-w SSS pickguard at BTM Guitars in in Nürnberg today. They said it'll cost around 30 €. Unfortunatly it will take some weeks until I get it. About the pickups... I'll probably see what I can get on Ebay. New sets are quite expensive. ATM I'm quite satisfied with the middle and the bridge pickup. I think I'll put in a SD APH-1 alnico II pro in neck position this week.

About the price.. I didn't pay the full BIN but only 1100 €. I know that's at least still 200 € more than used Silos usually go for. But this one is in very good condition... only one small chip in the finish. The rest is pretty much flawless. And the grain and finish was so beautiful I couldn't restist.... but I thin you all went throught he last part:cool:

Rock on...

Hey Volker,
I've been living in Landshut/Niederbayern for 7 years now, but I'm originally from the Lüneburger Heide in the "northern territory" :D
I got infected with the EBMM virus at my local resident axe strangler and tech. No stopping me now since then... All the none-balls have gone over time and I don't regret...
Yep, the price you paif probably is not quite cheapo, but regarding the overall condition and the fact that this seems to be quite a rare finish it's absolutely OK I think. I admit to seriously would have been considering at that price !
Yeah, original EBMM parts can take ages to get to you if they're not accidentally in stock at the distributors. First time I ordered a HSS pickguard in "moonstone" (THE most fabulous finish they do I believe...) for my Silhouette Special in pearl purple it tooks like months to get here. I learned and this time just had my dealer asking the distri what was in stock for a Silo Special - white pearl SSS and black-ice HSS - no questions asked, both were mine including some quick connectors for fast exchange. But as I said before - those nicely finished "custom" PGs will knock you off your feet when you see the tags. I knew before, so no damage here... :D
...well, what damage can you do to us knuckleheads around here anymore anyway...

All the best for your "project" and enjoy that new guitfiddle of yours !!!

Why are you calling it a knotrocker.

It's that magical mystery 24-7 SPYZ thing that King Hazel has going on hangin' around his neck when heavily guitfiddling :D
His original & main EBMM axe is an early nineties HSH Silhouette hardtail known by the name of the "Knot Rocker".

Check out Jimi (King) Hazel & 24-7 SPYZ !

Greeting to Ulm... at least another bavarian here:cool:
The LP was build in 2002. About the Silo.. the neck plate says 96020.. so it must be a 1996, right?

roburado:
Yeah, nice cars... but unfortunatly a little bit too expensive. I rather put my money into other "hobbies".

to Axilla:
I don't know what finally made me buying a MM. A friend of mine has Silo as is main guitar. And the Fender stuff is overpriced IMO. MMs aren't cheap either, but the value for money is definitly higher. I don't regret buying the Silo at all. I hardly played any other guitars since I got it.

Hehehe !
This is the time when Koogie2K normally should chime in with HIS version of the welcome to the a-thing :D
Just look his signature up as I'm not willing to send an overseas bank transfer of one cent's worth 'cause the transaction costs would be HUUUUUGE ;)

Enjoy your superb Silo ! ! !
She's a real keeper !!!!!
