ok, so i have a stingray 4-string and i was trying to tighten one of the knobs, but decided to unscrew one just to see what was under it. The knob i unscrewed was my "bass boost/cut knob" and when i put it back on the knob no longer firmly stops at the midway point (all the way down -10, midway 0, all the way up +10). assuming you guys know what im talking about, how do i fix it so that i get that "notch" at 0 (midway) back?

Make sure the knob isn't down too far. Put it back on the post, lift it up a bit and tighten up. Like magic, the detent will reappear.

In addition to Jack's piece of wisdom, be sure the pot is centered at the detent when you put the knob back on.

The 3-band Stingrays should have a detent on the 3 tone controls. Of course, the volume doesn't have a detent, and the tone controls on the 2-band don't either.

If you have a 3-band and the detents seem to be gone, just take the knobs off (loosen the screw first), then turn the center shaft to the midpoint (you should feel the detent). Then reinstall the knob. Repeat for each tone control.
