Hello Forumites,

I would like to ask a favor of my fellow forum members. I am a professor at Southern Illinois University. I teach a class in Integrated Marketing Communications. It is a Capstone course which is a semester long project where groups of college seniors form their own ad agencies and are required to turn in a complete Integrated Marketing plan (advertising campaign) along with creative displays at the end of the semester and take part in a formal presentation. It is their final class in order to receive a bachelor of science degree in advertising.

Long story short, I have selected the EB/MM JP 6, 7 and BFR models as their campaign project. Each group is required to do primary research on their target audience in the form of online surveys. Here’s where you guys can help out. I have posted the link to each group’s survey.

All guitar player's input is welcome. You don’t have to be a JP owner or player, or for that matter even and EB/MM player or owner, for your input to be valuable.

I will ship all three plans at the end of the semester to BP and will post all of the creative pieces for everyone to see. Sometimes the creative can be brilliant from this class.

Thank you in advance for taking part in this.

Hey this is something that we support. The bonus is that they give it to us afterwards....Help out some college kids and please take the time to help us in the end.

thanks

Done :)

There is a slight problem with the Perfect Pitch questionaire:

*38) What is it about Music Man that you DISLIKE?

There is nothing about MM that I dislike, but the question forces me to choose something or I am unable to submit. I had to choose 'other', but in actual fact, I shouldn't have to choose anything.

My answer to #38 is that they are not accessable enough...(can't go to the local ma and pa store and play/pick out the one I want) GC has 100+ strats and les pauls...and exactly 2 EBMM guitars! I want to buy new so that BP and company benefit, but I want to be able to pick out my guitar from a lineup...Is this asking too much? -Capt. Don

Thanks everyone for your response on this. Feedback is welcome on the questions and function of the surveys. The students are making a few minor adjustments in their surveys based on your responses. I have already received some email tonight from my students saying how motivating it is to have such an involved audience. Also, thanks to everyone at Ernie Ball for all of their help and support with this project.

Done.

Here's one thing I didn't like about the last one. I felt the visual analog type of questions with the rating importance from 1 - 5 wasn't consistent. Most of the time the highest value ("most likely" or "most important") was 5. One time it was 1. I thought that was something that would potentially skew results if people taking the poll weren't reading carefully, which I think is a good assumption for a pollster to make.

Also, I agree that I would have liked to have more choices. Granted, you only have a limited number of choices to give. One of the choices on one of the "What sports do you like?" questions was NASCAR. Umm...I like auto racing, but I don't like NASCAR. Perhaps, more questions with "Other" or "None" as a couple of the choices would be good. I found myself thinking, "Well...I don't like any of those choices. What I really need is 'other' or 'none.' Maybe, some more questions with a free-text field would be good.

Some of the questions are designed to find creative direction and some are designed to see what pushes the "hot buttons" of the consumer. Sometimes it's hard to tell what the the intentions of the questions are from the respondant's point of view.

One thing I was very stringent about was that every question on each survey has to have purpose. No wasted questions.

Thanks again for all the great feedback. The response's are growing quickly. The larger the number of responses, the more the validity of this research increases. :D

Done, great idea and heres a little feedback, Survey 1 was the best formatted survey, except on the car question need to add Mazda to the list, Survey 2 was the worst of the group just not as well done as the others.

Thanks and again great teaching.

I change the order of the group's survey listings every now and then to give them equal chances at being first. Just in case you're wondering. :)

Done!

After taking one of the surveys, I was taken to a screen where it asked me for my email addres to setup my own survey. I thought I hit the wrong button so I took the survey again and got the same screen. The other two surveys took me to a screen where I was told that I had reached the end of the survey. Not sure if it confused anyone else.
