hello i am a begginer bass player. i have a crap ibanez gaxb150 and a roland cube 30 guitar amp. i am interested in a MM sub becuase i cant afford a stingray. is the subs bridge the same as the SR bridge. is there anything differnt besides the finish and passive pup and non schaller tuners to a SR. what do u think i should do. i had a OLP before the ibanez and i could not play fingerstyle ecuase my hand was touching the pup is that normal.

I think the SUB is a good idea until you can get a Ray. I appreciate the fact that they are built in the same U.S. factory as the Rays, Bongos, etc.... It tells me that they are a quality instrument with the same stellar customer service as the higher end basses.
As far as fingerstyle there is a lot of room on a Ray or a SUB without hitting the pickup. I have that problem somewhat on my Bongo, especially for slapping, and I've played for 25+ years! It will just take some woodshedding, which the Music Man will encourage you to do much more than the crappy Ibanez.

To further enhance your bass experience, you should also consider a BASS amp whenever you can afford it. You'll be amazed at the tonal differences. Here's my suggestion for a real good one at a pretty reasonable price:

thanks 1 more question

i was also looking at the ashdown blue 180 head and wanted to know if thats engough to gig with. 180 watts. or the behringer 300 watt head.

I wouldnt buy a Chinese Ashdown or a Beringer. You'd be better served by looking for some higher quality used gear. A used Gallien Krueger 400 would be around the same price, and a much better amp.
