I was dirving by GC today (not the one I bitched about in my past thread) and decided to stop in for strings.
As usual I checked out the basses. The salesman was showing a Stingray 5 to a customer and I listened in and was impressed with his presentation. I was trying out another bass but wanted to check out the HH when he was done. He pulled it down for me and explaned the workings of the HH to the other customer as I played it.
The salesman said "if you like that, you should definitely check out this one" and he handed me a Sterling 5 HH ash body (I think) with RW board and an awesome blueburst finish with matching headstock.
Holy crap!!! this bass was alive and it would not release me. I always assumed that the Sterlings were the same as Stingrays with smaller bodies. There are some obvious similarities but the Sterling really had it's own flavors and played like butter as well.
As the salesman and I chatted I had to apologize as I could not stop playing it. My current quest is for a Bongo 6 fretless but if my funds weren't already earmarked for that I would have taken that baby home.

Thanks alot EBMM  The GAS pains are flaring up again and the must-have list has just grown.
You guys are killin' me. As I left in my cloud of bass euphoria and drove away the thought came to me. I never bought the strings I went in for :D
