What color is the third one down in the middle on the second pic from jimothys post (third pic on fog's original post)? Looks like a caramel color...

I believe thats a prototype Ernie owns. Look at the arm scoop and what looks like a large JP medallion on the first fret but not the smaller ones on the others (compare to the one above). the neck profile on that is almost rectangular

The color was _________ fire but I can't recall the full name

I can dig it. I wish I'd been a fan of MM a few years ago so I'd know all this stuff and possibly have a few rarities of my own.

I am pretty new to the MM scene too, but I have to say, I love the compensated nut. It was introduced late 2005, so many of Ernie's guitars likely do not have it...

That's not to say I wouldn't love to own any/all of them! I would buy any one of the rare colors in a heartbeat...

I'm pretty glad I joined the party when I did as well, I got my order in right after the JP's started coming with the D-Sonic stock, I'm looking forward to that.

Yep, that's a prototype JP, The color is Black Fire, if I remember the name correctly.

I'm not sure we have done anything but made the OP's decision between the 2 colors harder by introducing so many more color options...

Let us know what you decide... You will be happy with any color once you get it in hand!

I'm giddy with all these great JP pics.

FWIW Carbon Blue Pearl looks great in different lights, I really like that colour on my Luke.

A JP in redburst looks great, but what about a nice Dargie Martini Olive Green JP6? :p

Have no DD JP's been made yet? I'm gassing for one of Dargin's torture pics :D

Pete DuBaldo just hooked me up with a pic of a DD JP, so I'm guessing it is in production:

Actualy every post is realy helpfull. I can see how people thinking about colors and really helps me out. Once I buy it I will inform what was my selection. Up to now I am thinking Pearl Redburst but I realy am not sure if this will be my last word. The only color that I have in my mind exept my 2 choises is the mystic dream. I will sure have more than 2 months to decide since I will not make the order erlier than May (maybe later). I wish I could order it erlier but even if I desperately want this guitar now (since I touched it, played with it,obssesed with it) I dont have the money so I have to wait..

Very true jagged. I bought my first JP by making small payments at a time over the course of the 3 months it took to get it. Now, i am doing the same thing with the second JP i just ordered. Layaway is a beautiful thing..........

I would do the same thing. But there is a large possibility in the next monthes the company I work for to make mass redundancies of pesronel. So I would like to have all the money first..

When I found mine, I went looking for an amp, actually. I played it, and I just couldn't let it get away. I set up a Guitar Center account, and it was one of those "no interest for a year" deals.

I have Pearl Redburst. It is a very rich color. The dark parts are especially rich. It also has a bit of sparkle to it, like a metallic car finish. It's very hard to photograph it so that you can see how beautiful it is. Pictures do not do it justice, especially when it is clean. The surface of the guitar is like a mirror. If EBMM did not have the limited edition finishes or the BFR F-1 JP7, I might have bought a JP7 in Pearl Redburst. My thinking now is that I'll get the JP7 as a BFR (first choice) or limited edition (second choice).

I'd say Pearl Redburst, in your case, just 'cause it's special to the JP models, but if I were getting one and could only choose between those 2, Carbon Blue.
