How does a 1999 black Axis with matching headstock fetch more than a new PDN BFR with mega quilt? This is what a nice EVH would get.. I fail to see any logic here. EBMM CS apparently told the dude it is a low production configuration, so he assumes it's worth double the typical value of a used Axis in mint condition??? A penny for your thoughts. Ready? Discuss!

...And a serial number search on here pulled this:

He's hoping for a sucker bid... That's the only way it will sell.

I actually emailed the guy with advice that it would never sell. Apparently it was his father's and he doesn't know anything about them, but EBMM told him it's rare and he took that to mean collectible as opposed to "we didn't make too many of them because there wasn't demand". I showed him EBMM EVH's and brand new BFRs that were cheaper, but he wasn't hearing it. Probably thought I was trying to trick him. I feel bad for him as it'll never sell...

I had exactly this same conversation recently with a guy selling a Morse Y2D that (supposedly) there were only three in that configuration made in about 2006 - so he was asking about TWICE what it was worth.

Told him that, except for a couple long haired guys, there really wasn't a "collector market" for Morses - but the information wasn't well received at all.

From here on out, I vow to not be "helpful"... at least without being solicited! :)

The seller will figure out his asking price is way over realistic once his listing goes without a bite, could take a while though for it to sink in, some people are stubborn.

Interesting, I had that exact configuration in stock for several years and couldn't give it away.

You could have "given" it to me... I won't turn down a free guitar... If you have anything else that your "giving" away let me know... Lol

Weird....what's with the Wolfgang label? Trying to fool people into thinking it's an EVH?

You got that right... The one I was referring to is now on CraigsList at the same insane price...

Protecting them from what? Shipment damage?

Mike

Yes, that and things like my 2yo likes to mess with the guitars on the stand. I caught him trying to stick things under the strings the other day. It would be useful for things like that as well. Also, ever drop something on the neck while cleaning the guitar?
