ok... hi there guys... i have a yamaha trb5ii.... but i want to change to MusicMan Stingray.... the question is.... which one???? :S
the options are...:
---- Stingray 4 Single Humbucker
---- Stingray 4 HH
---- Stingray 5 Single Humbucker
---- Stingray 5 HH

which one is better? what does make the real difference between single humbucker and HH???

i play things from Muse, The Mars Volta, Amigos Invisibles to Metallica, Dream Theater, Incubus (s.c.i.e.n.c.e) and play for romantic ballad bands.... so as you see i have to be very versatible..... i need help.... i just don't know wich one to buy.... please give the pros and cons of all of them and tell wich one you'll choose if you.... thx

to start with, I'd recommend deciding whether you want a 4 or a 5 string. (I like 5s)

the single H models of Sting Rays are great and offer that tried and true Sting Ray sound. They are more than one sound wonders, you just have to get your hands to do the work

for added versatility the new HS and HH models are nuts! without even touching the on-board eq. you've got a lot of differing tones from the coil tapping.

so I guess what my opinion is, is a dual H SR5

but then again we're all different players and if you can, the best thing to do would be to try one for yourself.

the best way to figure out which one is for u is to play em all
personally i like the sr4 H, but it differs from person to person

Yup, you've got to just try 'em and see. Play as many different variations as you can, find one you like, and buy it, simple as that. Tone is a very personal thing, and you could get a bunch of different replies, so it's down to your ears really. Either way, they'll all do the job for you.

I tried many different basses and lusted for many different sounds, because "my sound and tone" varies on a weekly basis". What I was calling "the sound", one day, was slightly varied the next. From Three Days Grace to Wilson Pickett to Tower of Power. For me to achieve this without buying the store, the anwer was the SR5 HH. It has all these sounds and more. The Tonal Monster ! Try it - you'll like it. But please try them all, then you can come back and buy the SR5 HH
