Sorry, there are always a million threads about this, but I needed to make one of my own.

When I get back stateside in a few months, I'll be looking for an amp. I can't say I know too much about amps, but here's the preferences I do have:

- I love love love the distortion of a Mesa Triple Rec, though I've never tried a Mark... I listen to a lot of metal and I need a rocking super awesome distortion. And I've never heard a pedal distortion that does anything real for me.

- I love the Fender twin clean tones... that clean is so nice. Not to mention I hope to have a nice single coil guitar at some point.

- I like big tones and I cannot lie. You other brothers can't deny.

- I need versatility. I need something that I can tweak from a - z and get a lot of different sounds out of it.

- I can't afford a 4xcab and a head, nor can I carry them. But I don't want something 5w... it needs to have decent power.

- Don't need built it effects or special stuff at all... just good tone and at least two channels.

That's all I got. I hear a lot of stuff about various amps here and there, but I really need to know what to try out when I get back home and not waste my time on crappy amps in GC or amps I can't afford.

Help me out! Thanks everyone.

24th fret,

If you're looking for "the" amp, as you mentioned above, but can't afford about $30,000 in several top quality amp heads, this is the ONE amp, if that's all you get!!

Look no further: VHT PITTBULL CL/100w. (if you can afford the Cab) VHT Fatbottom cab with P50E speakers (4X12 or 2X12).

Other choices: Deziel, Bogner and a 1992 JCM 900 High Gain Mst Vol. MK111 (if you can find one. They only made them 2 years. ):)

I was about to recommend the Road King series 2 until you said you didnt want to haul a cabby.

Basically distortion of the Mark, and the clean of the Lonestar. You wont get Fender reverb cleans, but something different. (I actually like the lonestar clean better.)

I'm not sure, do they make a combo for the Road King series 2?

That's what I'd recommend.
