What kind of sounds do you want out of a LP and a strat? If you want the single coil at the neck, then the Silo Special is your choice. If you don't care for a humbucker in the neck as long as you have quack sounds in between, there are a number of options. In that case you could also consider the standard Silo. It is the most all rounder guitar, single coil in the middle, 2 and 4 quack positions, classic PAF tones in 1 and 5 while retaining quite a stratty vibe. It will do everything you trow at it, from jazz and country to heavy metal with the proper amp/pedals. The only minus (or plus) is that it has 24 frets, so the neck pickup won't be in the "sweet spot". I personally don't care that much, though I would go for 22 frets HSH given the option.
Really, what does it matter anyway? There is crack rubbed into the necks! So you will purchase one and play it and next thing you know you have 2 more... then 4, then 8, then 16 and so the addiction begins....haha
On thing to consider is the 2HB AL, the all rosewood neck is very nice and very different from a maple neck with rosewood fretboard. I have swore by all maple necks for years and the AL and its all rosewood neck is truly something amazing... you don't have to buy one, but play it before saying anything.
Thanks guys -
budget not the issue - the guitar is. BUT .......I can alreadt feel that i',m going to want more than ONE MM now- cos just can't decide between Ass HH and Silo special.
D'oh !
Another issue, btw ..i don't get on with catching my fingernails on the middle pick up when country/hybrid picking etc - so, maybe it's going to be the Ass HH in the end.
