Hey guys, need your opinion.

The lead singer of my old band is ready to start singing again, and it's going to be her and I only acoustically.

We were going to take our time getting ready to play out, but as luck would have it, we got an hour-and-a-half long gig booked for April 8th at the Central Illinois Auto Show pre-party, and we need a name.

After going through several possibilities, we've narrowed it down to 3, and they are:

1. Cold Union
2. GrooveYard
3. Hammerwookie

Now, I know that Cold Union is probably the safe bet here, but both Emily and I are really giving some serious consideration to Hammerwookie, for the simple fact that it's memorable and rolls off the tounge.

Please Help!

One of my old band's ideas that never eventuated : "Bunt the Yunty"

or to keep slightly on topic

Sooky Wookie ?

I was gonna use the name "Han Shot First" for a band once. Hammerwookie reminded me of it. Go with that.

or maybe Mrs Lefty's regular quote :

"Scott shot too soon"

Old man's advice.......none of those names conjures up an acoustic duo to me, they all sound rockist and Groove Yard conjures up funk.
Whatever name you go with, never underestimate the stupidity of people, who will mis-spell it and mispronounce it in ways you never dreamed possible. Groove Yard will often become Grave Yard. Hammerwookie is a good joke, but it might wear thin after a while.....plus it's long and hard to spell.
I know I'm not helping here, I remember how hard it was to find names for the bands I was in.....something memorable, easy to spell, without a reference to "two" or the colour "blue" that hadn't been used to death, that wasn't a pun on another band's name......I wish you good luck with the search.

Cold Sore… If you were punk/metal

Hammerwookie reminds me of Hoobaskank

Warm Union ...sounds well… warmer than Cold Union

I'm with Andy here.

A good band name should evoke the style of music, be spellable, be pronounceable and look good in print.

That's a minimum.

(I've learned in my career to never name a company something that you have to spell EVERY SINGLE TIME you say the name on the phone.)

IMHO a great band name also incorporates some double entendre humor or wordplay, for example The Radiators (my favorite band name ever), Little Feat, Rolling Stones, Beatles, etc.

It should also look good as a logo that can be seen and instantly recognized from 50 feet away in a dark room. Hit my website to see ours.

With all due respect, Hammerwookie isn't memorable beyond a few minutes... and what the heck would the signage look like? Memorable names come from familiar images.

A good name can also be used to make images work better. Here are some examples... the acoustic band I was in before Cool Shoes (currently on hiatus) was called The Implications. Here are the logo and some posters that play on the name. See how the name and the images work together to make different meanings?

When we were naming my current band (Cool Shoes) we went through some names not unlike some of those suggested. Feel free to use these. I even did cool logos if you're really interested.
