Help With Floyd Trem Adjustment

The trem arm on my EVH isn't as loose as I would like. Have loosened the small allen screw on the arm clamp and spread the black clip apart but the arm still doesn't swing freely. I looked under the trem cover and noticed an allen bolt that looks as though it goes into the trem arm. What does this do? And how can I fix my small annoying problem. Also want to say it is great to finally join the forum. Love those EB's, both EVH and Axis.

Just don't want to take a chance and adjust wrong thing and break something. Sure I could figure it out but why take chance with all the forum members that seem smart on these guitars.

The allen screw that you found actually holds and secures the trem arm sleeve to the bridge plate, if I'm not mistaken. That won't control how loose the swing is on the arm. Only the allen wrench on top will do that.

Someone else will have to confirm this, but that is what it does on my Schaller single-lock Floyd.

That's correct.

Try removing the small set screw from the tensioner and shoot some nut sauce or vaseline into the cavity. It should swing freely (mine did; at the expense of some play).

I've been considering replacing the MM trem arm with a replacement floyd rose arm. That would give fingertip adjustment of the trem arm w/o an allen wrench. Just havent gotten around to tearing my Luke apart...again.
