Help with JP6

Hi all, I have been looking here for a while and decided I want to try a JP6. I live an hour or so from GC and they had a jp6 a few months ago that was not set up well and strings felt terrible so i couldnt get a feel for the guitar. I went there again this weekend and they have a majesty which played like a dream but i want a more standard look in the jp6.
My question is since I will have to buy this without playing, how much difference in fret size between the 2, for anyone that has both. I know the majesty has slightly larger frets.
On a fresh guitar would the playing experience be very close on the majesty and jp6, i know the neck heel is different.
What year did the jp6 start with stainless frets , I want to make sure I get those.
When I play out I want to start carrying one guitar and from what I can tell the jp6 will cover me. I am assuming it can get good and fat like a LP and in the middle position cover any FN sounds equally well.
also, never had a piezo and I dont think I need one, would anyone suggest getting that, is it worth having for limited use?

Same here. I absolutely love the classy first JP6 design, that's the one I chose.

These are the official specs:

• JP6: High profile, wide, Stainless Steel
• Majesty: Medium Jumbo profile, Stainless Steel

I'm not a specialist, but maybe the Majesty has wider but shorter frets? Someone else here could tell me if I'm right on this.

I also never had a piezo before. On the bands I play there's no current use for it, so I just removed the battery, and the upper switch essentially became a killswitch.

I never buy a guitar with out really playing it. Whether its $500 or $3,000, I like to know and feel what I am spending my money on. I don't think it would be out of the question to ask the store to at least put a set of new strings on it. Especially if your paying the $$$ for a JP. No two guitars are ever the same, somebody simply telling you that their guitar is wonderful doesn't mean that guitar at GC is. At least get a good half hour of playing time on it and judge for yourself.

As for your question about fret size... My only JP is the XI model so I can't give you an answer but more is involved in the feel of the neck than just fret size. Neck width, thickness and contour all need to be taken into consideration. Hope this helps.

I have a JP6, a JPXI and a Majesty 7. They all feel and sound different:

JP6 - It is the least experimental guitar, 15" radius, basswood and very ergonomic arm scoop. Standard JP.

JPXI - It is the hardest to play because of the 20" radius and no arm-scoop. I like it the best, though. It takes a while to adapt to it and to get it set up how you like it, but once you get used to it you won't put it down.

Majesty - The most ergonomic guitar EVER (really light and adapts to every part of your body). The sound is absolutely killer and the pickups are really well balanced. I haven't tried a 6 string but the 7 string is exactly what I was looking for. I bought it without ever playing one but already having played 2 JPs I had absolute faith on Music Man. If it works for JP, it works for everyone, period.

I can tell you, from my experience, that the JP6 and JPX frets are WORLDS apart. The JP13/12 are more like the JP6. The unfinished neck of the JP6 feels great, but I'm getting used to the finished neck of my JP13 and I wouldn't say the JP6 is really "faster" but it defiitely feels a bit better in the hand.
